Paper Moon Vineyards & Winery — Attraction in Vermilion Township

I got to meet with the owner of Paper Moon Vineyards & Winery today for a pre-opening, behind the scenes opportunity to take some photos and video before the crowds showed up. Paper Moon is located south of Vermilion, Ohio on SR 60 just off the I90 freeway. We have visited here before and enjoyed their award winning wines, hard cider, and small plate fare. Did I mention their Hard Apple Cider?, because it is hands down the best hard apple cider I have ever tasted, and I have tried all the major brands. Have some ice cold on a warm day and you will thank me. They have a great indoor wine bar and seating area, as well as a huge patio where they throw open the garage doors so patrons can enjoy the outdoor feel. Today, they were setting up for a popular band that would be performing, and I was told it would be a packed house. Paper Moon is a must stop if you are visiting the Lake Erie coastal towns west...

Definitely surprised by this place, although have seen paper moon distributed to various stores throughout the area. The winery itself is welcomed by Bigfoot himself, who stares off into the distance looking for a juicy, succulent piece of beef jerky as you drive by. The place itself is quite large. There is a patio that is littered with tables to park your derriere as well as live music from 6-9:00pm of varying quality. The rest of the winery is comprised of a cozy indoor section that hosts more tables and also has a kitchen in the back which will overcharge you for pretty much any cuisine ( we bought a margarita pizza for $12 which was about the size of a personal pan from the kids menu at pizza hut). However, the food itself is pretty good. Coupled with some good tasting wine (the harvest blend being a solid, sweet red wine), this is a nice place to drive to if you are...

I ordered a few bottles of wine and I could never have been happier in my life... However, I got six bottles of what I did not order... So of course the natural thing to do is become upset and feel entitled... Yes I was guilty. Made the call Voiced myopinion, only to find out that I was actually speaking to the owner... He humbly apologized and told me to keep all six bottles... And he would ship to me my order and overnight it. Man... If that doesn't humble you nothing else will... I offered numerous times to even pay for the return feeling horrible for my sense of entitlement... And yet the owner insisted I keep all the bottles, and he came through with his promise. From now on, the only winery I will ever shop from. Order wine from here, you and your family and friends will be happy, elated, joyful, and most of all impressed. Paper mooon winery, good people...
