This was a very cool museum. The admission is free, but please make a nice donation. We were expecting to pay to get in, so we put in what we thought we were going to spend. There are some nice artifacts and lots to read. It kinda takes you back in time & shows you how life was way back when. They have evidence of inhabitants going back 13,000 years. That's right - that's their claim. Pretty fascinating. If only we could actually time travel ... They have a nice gift shop. Some toys & trinkets, books, shirts, the usual. If you're into history, especially Texas history, this is a must-see for you.

Free. Spent close to two hours slowly making our way thru the museum. As of April 2025 there's a new set of displays for Where TX Ranching Began- Vaquero. A must stop. Really interesting history from mammoths to the Clovis Indians, French and Spanish explorers, a shipwreck, cowboys and lots of fossils and artifacts. Gift shop.

An educational museum for visitors, especially for fresh off the boats. I learned some texasen history when I was exploring their exhibitions. Therefore, I wish the visitors will not take it for granted for their free visiting policy, it is good to donate some bucks during your journey 😀 😊

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is definitely worth a visit! I took a group of students, and they had a great time making cornhusk dolls, trying out spear throwing, and completing a scavenger hunt. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. There was plenty to see, and the small gift shop had some great items at very affordable prices. Highly recommend for a hands-on...
