This university is just garbage. The police department attached to the school is a bunch of wannabe cops that take any advantage they can get. everybody I have met has had run in with VU pd, most of which are hardworking rule abiding citizens. my girlfriend's room was illegally barged into by one of vu pd's finest. all the school wants from you is money. The school itself is surrounded by the worst "City" I have ever seen. if you want to see a bunch of crack heads tweaking around the city then you should come here. Now I'm gonna tell you all the dirty stuff V U doesn't want you to know. female attendance is down because of rapes. we had a double homicide from one of the students in my dorm hall. my buddy was actually his roommate. we've had 4 robberies one of which was 4 men with guns at the annex. a guy walked in with a shotgun in my hall. one man was held at gun point by a man with a white hood for just being black. you have to walk forever just to park your car. everybody leaves on the weekends just to stay sane. All the friends that you will make, will drop out. the halls will make your lungs feel weighed down due to mucus. I just want to save you the time, money, and energy that this place exerts from you. IVY Tech is way better, sure it doesn't have a campus but the odds are that you are going to hate this campus just like everyone else i have met. The tour is only going to show you smoke and mirrors but i wanted to show you the other side of this campus just because I want this place to cease it's existence. save yourself or your child by just finding someplace different. Thanks for reading and I hope you make a...
Read moreDecent university, I loved the small classes and the relationship you were able to build with teachers and classmates over the years. It is a small university, so you'll be seeing the same faces in a lot of your classes. I loved being near the Wabash as it provides an excellent spot to jog, walk, fish, watch the sunset, feel like you're in nature all just a slight uphill then downhill walk from campus. There are quite a few "student events" like game nights, free bowling nights, and pre-covid we even had a raft race down the Wabash. But post-covid the student events have seemed a little lame, and they seem to be more "prize oriented" rather than connection building. However I do have one MAJOR complaint: -Coming into college advising meetings right out of college, you're under the impression that advisors are there to tell you the facts as they are employed by the institute in which you're going to pay for an education. Why would they lie to you? Well their goal isn't to help you graduate, it is to ensure they can milk as much money out of you as possible before you transfer or graduate. That is why my advisor knowingly made me take 48 credit hours of courses that do not transfer over to my intended degree (not even any core courses at the school she knew I was going to for the specific degree I was going for). Moral of the story is: @TSAP-STUDENTS pull up your degree works for the college you will transfer into and use that as a guide, not what your VU...
Read moreWent here from 2014-2016. Really enjoyed every minute here. The classes and all the programs I took for Computer Networking were top notch. I see a lot of reviews about people not liking the school or town, and it may have changed since I was there a few years ago. I was fortunate enough to be roommates with people I've known all of my life, but it's really about finding things to do in town. On the surface, Vincennes looks really boring, but I promise there is a lot to do there. There are some cool shops downtown to check out for one.
Anyway, when I went there, the classes and professors were great. They were always willing to help and work with you as well.
I lived in Harrison my first year and Clark my second year. The bathrooms in Harrison were terrible. It was never the janitor's fault, and quite frankly I always felt bad for them. It was,and probably still is, the people who live there that make those bathrooms so disgusting. Clark Hall, on the other hand, was great! Hard to get into so make sure if you want to get in you apply for it early.
The dining center was better than I expected for a small college like this. It's true that it's pretty much the same food every week, but it's still good. There's enough variety so you don't...
