5 slot boat ramp with plenty of room to maneuver. Currently as of Jan. 11, 2023 you still need to use ramps to launch kayaks, paddle boards, etc. But I believe a kayak launch is in the process of being added. During low tide watch your footing at the end of ramp as it gets a touch slippery which is to be excepected. Weather and lunar events combined with high tide occasionally push water into the inlet submerging the docks but still able to launch. Posted no fishing from the docks. Weekends can get busy and the free parking for vehicles w/out trailers fills very fast but the city metered parking lot butts up to the ramps and the marine science museum. Overflow parking for vehicles with boat trailers is across the street and signs giving detailed direction posted at ramp. Lots of wild life you can occasionally see like turtles, otters, dolphins, and a variety of birds (in the creek area not inside museum which has many exhibits of thier own featuring the same) depending on the season, time of day, and how much human activity is taking place. I usually run across the majority of them (excluding the birds) while fishing during the evening hours when traffic dies...
Read moreLove the inlent, and the ramp itself is great, very big. The reason for 3 stars is the fact that my buddy went to get out of his boat stepped onto the ladder, and it crumbled right out from under him. He got all cut up and went between his boat and the dock itself, which you know how dangerous that is. All of this happened while a game warden sat in her vehicle, watched as I gave him first aid and got him and his boat out of the water. Then she decided to come over after we were all loaded up, getting ready to leave she came over and offered the most useless first aid kit I have ever seen. All in all though it was a great first time out...
Read moreGreat boat ramp access. 3 large access points with plenty of room. Large parking area made to hold your vehicle and trailer. Pretty scenic with a couple of little walkways where you can check out all the fiddler crabs and pockets of oyster beds. Saw lots of people dropping off their kayaks and putting in here, with access that flows out the jetty to the ocean. We went deep sea fishing later in the day and saw people kayaking the channel out to the ocean that we saw putting in at the ramp. Right next to the Virginia Aquarium with great in...
