My experience here was limited to hiking the Meadow Loop and Lost Shoe spur trail so I have no knowledge of the historical aspects of this island park. Aside from the four little hiking trails and educational opportunities regarding the fort built by the British during the French and Indian War, the park offers picnic areas, kayak and standup paddle board (SUP) rentals, a museum and gift shop, the opportunity to leave trash everywhere with no consequences (known as fishing throughout the rest of the country) and plenty of space to observe the surrounding landscape and birds. Of course, my pics are limited to the Meadow Loop and Lost Shoe spur trail as well.

Great Piece of history, well communicated on various signs around the property. Also great for outdoor experience of hiking or Trail running, even a kayak and canoe launch that is available year-round. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and overall clean Park I would highly recommend visiting.

Very cool old fort that was much better than I expected! Well maintained and very educational. I hope next time I come back I will have time to explore all the extra trails around the water and woods.

From the scenic view, to the historic site attached to this park. For Loudon is a wonderful place to go and learn a unique part of early American history. I was astonished the British really came all the way down here to place a fort, and yet it didn't last long its still very interesting the history that is told here from the early days of America. I would recommend you head to the visitor center and then head to the historic fort as well as see a replica house from the Native American village that once was established near...
