Read moreWent for a hike yesterday on the hottest day of the year so far and it was still very enjoyable, peaceful and beautiful. A deer even came out to say hello. Shark River has 6 miles of trails to hike, run, bike and ride horses with 5 different trails. Three of the trails are multi-use trails and two of them are foot traffic only. The trails range from standard, moderate and challenging. On the Cedar Trail, there are 20 fitness stations with illustrated directions on what to do at each station. Read moreVisited today, and the number of unleashed dogs and ill behaved children is a problem. There are multiple postings for keeping dogs leashed and behaved, which is the very most common courtesy for dogs on trails but not today and not here. The dog ran toward us, which was fine the dogs didnt react however, while i was watching their body language i was flustered and missed their son who got down on his knees and held my dogs head and hugged him. Also, thankfully, nothing bad happened, but this isnt ok.
I am not gonna go into the whys and why nots, but as i mentioned, this is a law for a reason. If you feel like you need your dog off leash take them to a dog park please.
I refuse...
