This park was a few hours drive from Cincinnati, but saw a friend went there and took some lovely photos so decided to go there on my day off. I was really glad I went, I was a bit disappointed there was no waterfalls (not enough rain lately), but there was plenty of other cool stuff to see. I especially liked the ladders on trail 3 and walking along the creek bed. The trails are moderately difficult at some parts, I was a bit nervous to drop my camera at some points, but the carved out areas and the suspension bridge made every photo worth it. I do wish the trails had maps and signs on them, if you go, make sure to download a map or stop and get a paper map, the cell reception there was pretty bad for me. I had looked at the trail maps before going so I had a rough idea where I wanted to go, but at one point I was just guessing which way to go (later got a paper map from the nature center which helped a lot). Saw a couple snakes near the trails which surprised me, but it was a warm day so it was not too unexpected. Bring good shoes if you plan to go on the more moderate trails, I can imagine some would be a lot trickier if the water...

For Christmas my family got me a guided ice hike at Turkey Run State Park in Marshall, Indiana. They have ice hikes every weekend in January and February. The hikes are free and they let you use their boot ice spikes. You have to sign up online for the free guided ice hikes. Turkey Run State Park is gorgeous and the trails are so much fun. Our guided hike was on trail 6 and 7. Trail 6 and 7 are moderate hikes. It took us about an hour as a group for both of those trails. We decided to hike on our own after we got back to the Inn. Trail 3 was "very rugged" and absolutely a blast! We had so much fun climbing down ladders, scrambling up big rocks, sinking our boots in mud, walking on ice, and cracking ice with our boots. Splashing in icy water was something new for all of us to experience as a family. It even snowed a little bit during our hikes which was cool. We felt very adventurous during trail 3! 😂 Definitely rent the ice spikes if you go on your own. They are $3 at the...

Turkey Run is gorgeous! However, I’m giving Turkey Run a 3 because we used a paper map and the online map and 3 educated adults, who have explored National and State Parks all over the country, could not navigate the park to complete the 5 mile challenge. We ran into several other adults who were lost as well. The park is super crowded and the trails are not represented properly on any of the maps. The camera icons on the maps are covering important information! Also, I get the lack it in pack it out theory BUT KTS NOT WORKING there is trash and litter EVERYWHERE. You can’t have this many people visiting and no garbage cans anywhere. Sugar creek is totally littered with trash and the litter is out of control. I’ve been hiking here since I was a kid and this will be my last visit. Go somewhere else if you are looking for a clean, peaceful...
