My hubby and I have birthdays just a few days apart, and always try to plan something special that we love to do. This year, for his landmark 70th, we chose to spend a few days at the Angel of the Winds Casino Resort in Arlington, WA. We both love to play craps, and this casino seemed to be the nicest within an hour drive of our current location in Ferndale.
Nina at the front desk was our first encounter with the staff at Angel of the Winds, she is such a happy, welcoming and upbeat person! Everything was “wonderful”!! Even our room keys! Upon hearing of our birthdays, she disappeared briefly and came back to tell us we would be upgraded to a king room at no additional charge! This was unexpected and amazing, as I only had the option to book 2 Queen beds online. What a great way to start our getaway!
After settling in to our absolutely beautiful room, we ventured downstairs for dinner. Annalisa, our server @ 210 Brewing went above and beyond, made fresh coffee, and gave us service with a radiant smile. We had a delicious meal, the Mac and cheese was highly recommended by Annalisa and she was spot on!
Brian at the Players Club was another friendly and efficient staff member! He got hubby switched over to military veteran status which gave us additional discounts on dining, and on fuel when preparing to journey back home after our stay.
Laura and Brandon at the cashier desk were both so upbeat and personable! We had another outstanding encounter with a cashier who was so patient with converting $600 of small bills over to larger bills to make it easier for us at the craps table. I wish I’d gotten his name, he was a superstar! It was the evening of 5/29 if that helps identify him for the purposes of kudos, because he deserves them!
Brittany at 210 Brewery was awesome, she helped me decide between two very different breakfast options. I went with her recommendation for the Brewery Benedict and it was amazing!
Jordan, Anne, Wendy, Corinna, Chris, Holly, Rick and Jason were just a few of the outstanding Craps dealers we encountered. We spent most of our time here and nearly everyone we met was positive and engaging. There were a few regular players who had a “good old boy” mentality; because we weren’t part of their first name basis clique, they completely ignored us. One in particular just stared blankly ahead when we tried to initiate a polite conversation. Our luck that session reflected the unwelcoming attitude. We absolutely found that positive energy means so much at a craps table. Even with those losses, we still came out ahead.
Our room was perfect, comfortable in every way. 90% of our hotel stays I am wishing I were back home in my own bed. At this hotel, I wanted to take the bed home with me, it was so wonderful! Temperature was perfect, no noise to keep us awake, easy to stream our favorite YouTube influencers (yes, we watched you while on our getaway, @BluffinBob!). We felt safe, secure and pampered.
Jeanine at the hotel desk upon checkout, asked us to do her a big favor after confirming our charges. Fully expecting her to ask us to leave a review of our stay, she completely surprised us by saying “come back real soon!” You...
Read moreOverall, I give the whole experience a 3.3. I haven't been back here since 2019 when I had training for a job I worked at at the time. The changes look good, the service was great, the food was ok. The asian food, I feel, could use some help. Surprisingly, the lumpia was on point. Considering, our waiter told us it's made by someone. I wanted to try the sisig, but after having what we had somwthing told me that i might not have liked it. Sisig ,for me, is a dish that you have to have on point. I mean, i give them credit for having it in the menu because normally you would never see sisig on a menu at just any asian restaurants. The poke bowl was missing some elements. I order chow mein and that also lacked in flavor. The bartenders were nice and made good margaritas. The other restaurants looks good. They have cafe kinda place thats opened 24 hours. The prices were cheap. The quality of some of the food could use some help, but the food wasnt too bad. The bowling alley they have looked cool though. Slot machine choices were good. Now, the table game choices, however, were really disappointing. One section was nothing but face up pai gow and baccarat. The other section was a mix of on craps table, two roulettes, two ultimate Texas hold'em, and different versions of high card flush and black jack. No more emperor's challenge, no lucky ladies, none of the popular card games. Also, my girlfriend lost $60 that fell out of her pocket. Someone from surveillance came down and asked how much. When she said $60, they told her no we only start looking if it's 250 or more. I mean if your PnPs saying that then whatever. But at the same time if you're not busy I mean why not take the time. Especially when it wasn't even 5 minutes when my girlfriend reported it and knew where see was last. I can only imagine how my theft goes on there and nothing gets done about it. All and all, the place looks great. The food definitely needs a little help. Some dishes were ok, but dome tweeking is needed. Table games need to have more choices. The fact that the vibes on tables was kinda dead said it all. Also, I would probably maybe even change a few things with the surveillance team.
6/7/25 We stay here on 6/1/25 for my fiance's birthday. The rooms are really nice. I noticed they changed a bit. Service was great and the food was great as well. I made reservations at the steak house restaurant. Wow, the food was amazing! We ordered a salad, bone marrow, and the dry aged burger. Lol we almost ordered more bone marrow lol. We also ate at the katie Cafe. We loved the fact it's 24 hours and prices are reasonable. The food there was also great. The choices of tables and slots were great. They had a lot of the games we like. Overall, I change my rating to a 4.5. This casino has changed a lot and we'll...
Read moreI really like Angel's. Though as of late the slots and tables have been really tight. Not just of myself but observing other players lately. I don't think that many people have that much bad luck. Even if it was to break even. As of late for myself playing my freeplay determines how long I stay and play. If I have any decent luck with my freeplay I have no issue with staying longer and having a good time. Spending a little bit more money for my entertainment. Obviously though it hasn't been that way. When you get a decent amount of freeplay (anywhere between $60-120 on average) and can only win maybe $6 (the past 4 rounds of freeplay) it doesn't enticee to stay and play my own money. I never go expecting to win big or anything but the way things have been lately I just cant give anything better at this time. Sorry Angel's but my visits are going to become more limited. They still do have the more friendly of staff of all the other local casinos still.
Here is a newer update. The last times I have been there as well it definitely has not lived up to its former standard of, "The World's friendliest casino." Alot of the dealers have changed out and they are definitely not player friendly. Slot hosts are still pretty good, as well as the server's.
One of the biggest draw backs is the security guards driving in the security vehicle in the late afternoon, evening, and night shifts. When they are driving around the parking lots smoking weed and a cloud of smoke is emanating from the car, really doesn't account for any security or safety. I could count how many transients, and other's that should have had that security guards attention. This was the week of 9/9/24. There is alot of changing that needs to take place internally at Angel's before I consider giving a...
