The time I spent going to this library was mostly enjoyable. My sons and I have been attending this library for a few years. It has a bus stop right infront and the grounds are clean as well as the building. The computer lab is a small section which is very nice and easy to sign up and use. I recently had a baby and the environment is family and breastfeeding friendly. There are plays and live events that are inclusive in that they are free or low cost. The facility is surprising safe and quiet. The drawback is that they seem to have a bias against homeschooling families or maybe just my little family. One of the ladies with whom I developed a reported with over the months was a bit condescending, hurtful and judgemental when she expressed I'm doing a poor job of educating my child. She also "evaluated" my son during the time he should have been enjoying storytime without my permission. Also no one really uses the preschool storytime and she informed me its a poor choice for socialization. Something that's really something the library should address rather than suggesting the customer frequent some other place. We've had no other issues but will probably not go there very much anymore. If you are traditional in your educational choices you may have a much more fulfilling experience...
Read moreOh my gosh I was so disappointed coming here. We used to come weekly for storytime when it was on Monday last year and it was fantastic. Ms. Patricia had everything structured and truly cared for the children. At the end of the year we were told she would be moving to a different location. I did not think that meant everything else was going with her. There used to be coloring pages out, a scavenger hunt that was made weekly, food for the play kitchen area, word/spelling games. I thought it would still be nice to head over even though she wasn’t there but I was told twice once upon entry and again when I arrived on the 2nd floor that they were short staffed. They were actually going to shut down upstairs for the staff shortage if an employee didn’t show up at noon because the teens get out of school early and I guess get a little rowdy.
I’m confused as to why they changed things at this location because there were so many parents and children coming. I definitely am one who did not show appreciation while a good thing...
Read moreThis is about the vaccination center inside, not the library itself, though library looks like it’s quiet and has PLENTY of computer stations along with a view meeting rooms. Good amount of free street parking on the side and rear of the building.
Arrived on a Saturday around 1:30p and was back home within 45 minutes. Got a booster and flu shot. There was plenty of staff and seating to fill out the form and wait afterwards for any adverse reactions to surface.
Highly recommend if you need vaccination services or at-home test kits, especially East of the River.
Please check the DC Health website for available days/times because they are not open everyday or the same hours as the...
