Attended the first of 2022 monthly bird and nature walks led by Chris Rurik, local naturalist and contributing freelance writer to the awared winning Key Peninsula News. Scheduled for the first Saturday of each month and open to anyone interested in nature, meeting at the pavilion to begin at 8:30 AM to discuss and discover who and what lives or visits this range of habitat on the Key Peninsula, besides the human residents and visitors. For a winter day post some very heavy rain days that followed holiday snows, we identified by sight and sound 28 species of birds. A mix of raptors, forest edge, wetland birds and waterfowl crossed life paths with us and intersected with mosses, lichens, fungi, grasses, shrubs and trees. Read moreAt Gateway Park we always have a wonderful time! It’s clean, safe, and incredibly well-designed and our children have been coming for years. They are now 10 and 13 and still enjoying it as a quick stop on our way home. There’s a great mix of equipment — slides, climbing structures, swings, splash pads and even zip lines that kept our kids entertained for hours.
There are plenty of shaded areas and benches for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. You ca have birthday parties there and much more. It’s clear that the park is well-maintained and thoughtfully laid out.
Bonus points for the clean restrooms and nearby dog park, bike and horse trails, as well as an open field area! This has definitely become one of our go-to spots for family outings. Highly recommend it to any parents looking for a fun, safe, and engaging environment for their kids and...

As everyone arrived we were forced to relocate food, coolers, gifts, and grandparents to the farthest table now that it was the only one available. Far past the spray pad and play ground where our children were. Complete bs to allow people to sign up online and pay for the Pavillion without...
