I visited a couple of months ago and was surprised at all that this small museum has to offer. It's like dynamite- a small package with a Big Bang. The director and volunteers have a true passion for what they do and that is evident in all they accomplish. The gift shop is also not your average shop of trinquettes. They have models, patches, and so much more at very reasonable prices- perfect for Christmas and Birthday gifts. You should also take a drive through the airplane park, it's awe inspiring being that close to these great machines and the history they took part in. Perfect for all ages. Can't recommend this museum high enough. Thank you for a wonderful experience. It is fun paired with the Lewis ArmynMuseum for a day...
Read moreA super little museum which brought back many great memories of my time stationed at McChord AFB (1981-1983). My dad 'Chief Wholey' served at McChord as a maintainer from 1965-1965. First with the C-124 'Old Shaky' (propeller-driven) and subsequently the venerable C-141 Starlifter. Great displays in the museum detailing McChord's history. Part of the museum and a short distance away at 'Heritage Hill', a wonderful outdoor static display of these 'birds' as well as many others can be seen overlooking the runway. The museum is a must see for those interested in McChord's legacy through the years. Manned by volunteers such as Mr. Greg Christian are very knowledgeable of this base's history. Well done, folks!
