Until this morning, I felt very fortunate and grateful to live in the Palisades neighborhood, and to particularly enjoy the Palisades Library, which I believe is the best in DC. However, two disturbing incidences occurred this morning. For about half an hour, a man conducted a conference call without headphones in an open area of the library. In addition, a woman came in and made a lot of noise, putting her stuff down right cross the table from me. Immediately thereafter, she received a phone call and started talking business/work, again in an open area of the library. I reported both instances to the librarian at the front desk, no remedial action was taken. She just sit in the front desk, where is far away from the incidence, answered: "I didn't hear anything." Read moreToday I used the Palisades Library public computer to do some work. Unfortunately, I experienced an extremely rude and unprofessional librarian working the reception desk. She Saud her name was Metedith. I simply asked to extend my time on the computer which is a normal request.
She loudly and rudely while an 8 year old little girl stood in front of her said. " it would help if you didn't ask right before your time is up." Clearly not a role model for children. Probably not the right work environment for Meredith. In fact if she gave the right name on Saturday...
Read moreI volunteer with DC Public Library for 4 years. This was my first time volunteering at this library branch. The staff were nice and friendly. The library hosted a pumpkin festival earlier today which is actually a great event for the little kids to come out and decorate the pumpkins, play games, make trick or treat bags, enjoy the music, and do arts and crafts for Halloween. Overall, my experience at the Palisades Neighborhood Library is excellent. I hope I can get the opportunity to volunteer at this branch...
