Spanaway Lake — Attraction in Washington

Great place to take the family to. Great for family photos as well. The park itself over the course of the years has definitely gotten more trashy over the years. Fishing in the lake, I would but more of a catch and release type of thing. The water isn’t clean. Swimming here in the water is rather dirty. But it’s great to bring the family to! Take your boat out for a ride, paddle your way in a canoe, enjoy the walking trails, seeing the ducks, watching the kids play on the playgrounds, etc. unfortunately people leave trash laying around and don’t clean up after themselves and the trash ends up in the water. A nice place to relax. The fishing is pretty lackluster given how pressured the water is. The best fishing is away from the park, look by the edge of the seaweed for bass and trout. The opposite end of the lake away from the public park has your highest chance of success. There are boat rentals and other activities like a swimming beach at the park. The park itself has a small entry fee. There's a bunch of homeless people that tend to be wondering about the park area so keep your valuables locked up and out of view. I've been told that car break-ins have become a daily occasion at the park. The lake and park are overall really nice, the vagrants that stir up trouble in the park though...

Went to spanaway lake to launch my boat for the first time and was met by a lot of unfriendly people on the dock where there are signs everywhere that say to not fish off the side of the boat launch. The people were very rude and started cursing at my family and I. While trying to bring my boat back in on the trailer they made it a point to be in my way as much as possible. Talked to the person who runs the boat launch and he told me they won’t listen to him and has tried to fix this problem with no result. I won’t be back until spanaway lake does something about this so people can use the boat launch without people...
