This was my first shopping appointment for my wedding which was only 6 months away at that time. I walked in not feeling super hopeful. I was feeling like I waited too long to start shopping, like my budget was way too low, and that I wouldn’t find a plus size dress in time for my day.
The shop was very pretty, and I liked the overall friendliness of the girls as soon as we walked in the door. That put me a little bit at ease!
We met with Bonnie, and basically told her that I had NO idea what I was looking for. I had one “inspo” picture and a pure white color in mind. Then we told her my timeline, and she didn’t show the slightest bit of concern.. which was not what I was expecting! She asked my general size, and pointed us to the “as is/sale” racks. There must have been about 50 dresses in my size (22/24 ish) to chose from! Most all were $200-$800 and in PERFECT condition!
We chose a few dresses to try, and Bonnie informed me that it’s not impossible to shop from the “regular” racks, that it would just take some computer work searching for what I needed and that she may need to step away for a bit. (She was never within talking distance from me!)
The on sale dresses were all beautiful, and I was starting to feel like I would just chose one of those for the amazing price and my timeline convenience.
However! Towards the end of the appointment, in the fitting room, Bonnie said to me “…okay. Just give this one a chance. It’s what you want and it seems like it’s not but it is.” In that moment, she handed me my DREAM dress!!!!!!
It was nothing I was expecting or even knew existed. It was everything I told her I wanted… maybe not so much with my words because I didn’t know what I wanted at all… also I don’t know any of the fancy gown lingo…Bonnie knew what I was searching for all along! “I like this shape… this one’s itchy… it’s too poofy.. I can’t move my legs in this one… I don’t like the pink tones in this one). Im convinced she was able to tell my style mostly from my facial expressions while trying on previous dresses. She is literally a mind reader!!!
The staff also worked so well together. They listened to each other, asked each other of their opinions, and always communicated. Whoever was walking by at the time, offered Bonnie (and me!!) some advice and help. There were constantly conversations like “do you need help?” “What shape does she want?” “I want her to try this one!” “Let’s try this shape, it’ll look amazing on her!”. It made me super proud to be shopping there. Zero judgement, zero attitude. Just all positive vibes and encouragement towards myself and Bonnie from her coworkers! At the Wedding Embassy, the staff support their coworkers and customers!
After maybe 8/10 dresses, I said “YES!!!!” to my dress today. It was UNDER my budget, and EXACTLY what I was looking for even though I didn’t know how describe it to Bonnie.
During my entire appointment, I felt so safe and heard. Thank you Bonnie for being you. You are amazing at what you do, and you are so kind and you listened to every spoken (and non spoken!) word that I said. I will remember my day with YOU and my closest girls forever. Thank you for making me a more confident bride today. Thank you for being the amazingly kind and thoughtful person that you are. You Are valued beyond...
Read moreThe Wedding Embassy created the perfect environment to find a wedding dress. The inner workings of the office are a well-oiled machine; setting appts was easy, changing them ALSO easy, and every professional who worked there was kind, patient & easy to speak with. I encourage anyone in the wedding process, including MOB/MIL's, to check out the WE for their big-day needs.
After shopping in a few other boutiques, a friend rec'd the Wedding Embassy. Unlike other places, you are able to rifle through the racks of dresses yourself, which my mom & I loved doing. It felt like the true wedding dress shopping experience.
It wasnt actually until my stylist Mikaela started pulling options that I truly fell in love. Picking dresses yourself is fun, but handing over the pressure to an EXPERT who knows the styles in stock like the back of her hand was a GAME CHANGER. She asked insightful questions, looked at reference pics, and didn't bat an eye when I shared any doubts or dislikes towards options she brought forward. It was her who found THE dress, that became MY dress. And it was her who encouraged me to, "forget about the how, is there something this dress doesn't have that you'd want? What would make it perfect?" and when i answered "sleeves" they had a seamstress pop in not 5 minutes later for a quick, verbal consultation to go over how we could make sleeves possible!
I ended up adding the most gorgeous, angelic sleeves to a simplistic, strapless gown. WE helped me find a material that was soft & flowy, helping to create sleeves that brought my gown from Perfect to Perfection. Mikaela listened to my material preferences and then brought out sleeve options--from other dresses! I was literally able to slip my arms into the sleeves of another dress and get a visual for what the seamstress could make a reality. Mikaela went above and beyond.
I'd also like to give a shout out to Monika, a seamstress at WE, who created the final vision alongside me. My 3 final fittings consisted of myself, my mom, and Monika in a dressing room-- checking the flow of my sleeves, the length of my skirt, the cut of my slit. No detail was forgotten, and the ultimate compliment (for me) was when Monika gave such encouraging feedback for every choice I made. "These simple lines are gorgeous" "the sleeves are royal" etc. Plus when I finally brought the veil in, I felt like the coolest kid on the block, as the nearby stylists & seamstresses all ooh'ed & ahh'ed, asking me where it was from and how I got my hands on one.
Although I did not purchase my veil through WE, (I ordered from a boutique that carried Rue De Sine designs and brought the veil in towards the end of my dress fitting process) they still knew proper care instructions and were able to steam it, so that both my dress and veil were wedding day ready.
The Wedding Embassy knows what theyre doing & they do it well. Plus they offer dress cleaning & preservation, so that even AFTER the Big Day, they're still able to guide you in your wedding...
Read moreI had so much fun wedding dress shopping at The Wedding Embassy! Miranda assisted me, and she was so helpful and patient! She greeted me and my bridesmaid with a smile and was nothing but sweet and wonderful! She made shopping fun and easy. At the WE, you can try dresses on from your wishlist and their racks, which seemed a bit daunting. However, Miranda was able to explain where I should look based on what I wanted, which made the process so much easier.
She was very helpful throughout the entire try-on process and made me feel very comfortable. I am so thankful for her patience, especially when I couldn’t explain what I didn’t like about the dress. I loved that she listened to what I did/didn’t like and was able to make suggestions for me. I think she may have even picked the dress I may say yes to (not pictured below)!
Miranda was very helpful with all of the little things as well. When I was too busy staring at myself in the mirror, crying about my big day, she was fixing the dresses and veils so my bridesmaid could take photos.
The establishment itself is nice. The building is clean, the lighting is wonderful; however, the waiting rooms are a tad small. I kept seeing a mom from another party keep looking over at me from her waiting room. It was a tad distracting, but no big deal! I went on a Tuesday night and basically had the whole place to myself since the other party’s shopping experience was over halfway through mine.
There were a few dresses they didn’t have, but they were quick to help track them down for me as loaners.
I loved that they had a virtual wishlist for me. Some other places don’t, and it just made the day off experience easier and more special. I didn’t have to come in with a list because they already had it. I also appreciated that I didn’t need to make a reservation fee or leave a card on file. They’re very upfront about pricing and alteration, which is SO WONDERFUL. While trying on dresses, you’re told the style and price, which is nice too!
My only negative is the parking. However, they do give you options on where to park before you come. I’m just a person who doesn’t like street parking/panic parking. LOL. There’s a lot down the street, so it’s best to park there on the weekends and walk down!
I have another appointment in a few months and I can’t wait to go back with the rest of my...
