Our old HP computer died after 11 years of great use but when attempting to check several stores that had similar computers, we were just not pleased with what we were seeing or the salespeople trying to sell them. When my wife and I went to Micro Advantage in West Columbia, S. C. , we were immediately impressed with the owner, David Newton, who builds computers and who has a great attitude towards his customers and a very extensive knowledge of his business - with 33 years in the same store!!. We ended up purchasing a new computer that very day which we able to set up ourselves with his advice and it is working great and it is so much faster than the old computer that we just could not be happier!! Any question or issue that we had ( such as our printer interfering with the signal to our new computer ) David very calmly and gladly suggested the best solution and every bit of his advice that we tried worked immediately!! I have been having intermittent computer freezes for the past few months and after running numerous tests myself, I decided to take it to Micro Advantage to have them take a look at it. I was confident they would find the issue and resolve it but I was wrong. The customer service was great up until I was charged for the diagnostic while being told nothing I did not already know. I ran lots of tests myself and when they showed me the results of their tests, it was for the tests I ran myself. They gave me some suggestions to try, but the fact that I was charged full price ($55) for diagnostics I had already done was a bit disappointing. I would say to use them if you are not familiar with computers, but if you are somewhat tech savvy and can run some tests yourself, I would save your money. I took my computer In because it was having some issues. They diagnose the problem as the motherboard. I bought a new motherboard and cpu as a bundle from Amazon. This caused more issues once it was installed. I literally had to take the computer back to him several times and he never solved the issue. He charged me $700 and the computer was never fixed. this process was over two week. He never properly diagnosed the issue and kept charging me for things that he tried that didn't work. I took it to another shop and they determined the that the new cpu and motherboard were not compatible even through it was sold together.
