The Conservation Garden Park is actually a pretty decent place to visit if you are looking for ideas on what to do with your yard. They have a friendly staff on site that are supposed to be experts, however, even a simple question such as "where can I buy 'x' plant" or "how much water does this require" seemed to stump nearly everyone I asked. This is the deduction in stars.
The garden is laid out well and you get a great idea of some of the things you can do with your yard.
My suggestion to the park is to train your staff better and make a QR code and put it on the signage for each plant that links to a page with all the information about the plant and where it can be purchased in Utah. You have a great examples of a million different plants but it's pretty useless if people don't know where to get them. They are not Lowe's or Home Depot available plants, most of them anyway.
Better yet, create a shopping list app or something on your web page where people can scan the QR code and have it add the plant to your shipping list. That would be an amazing feature!
Even with the lack of expertise, it's still a really great place to visit and see the possibilities...
Read moreYou can not, not love this place. They put on such an effort to make a difference in our community. By giving free lessons in gardening and techniques to establish better watering practices. They offer customized classes for the community and all you have to do is call or ask them. They need volunteers to help their site do projects so if you have a church group or group at work looking for a activity to volunteer for. I lead a human resources activity for my wellness activity and we all loved it, bring our families to enjoy the park, learn and get a take home project for the kids. The garden also offers different events for your groups and can do events from weddings, work events and Christmas parties too. If you wind up going try to go during different seasons. This is a great place to take seasonal photos and to take wedding photos too. It really is a hidden gem that you will find to be a small but surprising garden nice views of the valley from the West side of their building too. Don't forget to take the time to give them a review so that they get credit for all...
Read moreI discovered the park in November of 2021, and then came again March 2022 and have been back almost every week since—it’s been my favorite place to be the summer. It’s absolutely beautiful, and an incredible learning resource—I have spent hours on their site taking their online courses and searching their plant database (such an incredible resource when planning a water-wise drought tolerant garden as I am). Every week there’s something new blooming and everything is well-labeled for the most part. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and even if you’re not planning a project it’s a great place to meet a friend for a walk and a snack (they have a nice shaded outdoor seating area with tables). I have loved seeing all the plantings at different phases in the growing season. My favorite part is the bees and pollinators section—I love to see all the movement in the grasses on a breezy day. I go so often that I’m trying to work out the perfect path through where you hit everything without too much backtracking, I’m including my current route (subject...
