A Steamy Wonderland: The Excelsior Geyser Crater blew me away (pun intended)! While it may not be erupting in its former glory, this Yellowstone giant is a must-see for any park visitor.

Massive Marvel: The sheer size of the crater is staggering. It's hard to imagine the power it once unleashed! Walking along the boardwalk and peering down into the depths of the bright blue, boiling water is an unforgettable experience.

Colors of Another World: The deep sapphire water is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's almost like looking into another geothermal world. And don't forget to look for the vibrant runoff flowing into the Firehole River - a beautiful reminder of the constant geothermal activity below.

A Window to the Past: Learning about Excelsior's history as a powerful geyser adds another layer to the experience. It's incredible to imagine the earth shaking eruptions that once took place here.

Easy Access & Otherworldly Sights: The boardwalk makes getting to the Excelsior Geyser Crater a breeze. Plus, you're right next to the Midway Geyser Basin, so you can explore countless other hot springs, mudpots, and geysers in the same area.

Uniquely Yellowstone: The Excelsior Geyser Crater is a true representation of the raw power and beauty of Yellowstone. It's a place that will leave you speechless and wanting to learn more about the incredible geothermal forces that shape this...

We had to do the walk. My wife had a hard time going up the incline but made it to the top. There were spots that didn't have guard rails, but I was there to help her turn it. It was very busy. So, we had to move slowly though it. It was so busy that it took about 30 minutes just to wait for a parking space to open up. The line stretched to the highway, but it was worth the trouble. Hot boiling water came down the hill. The rocks were many colors and steam coming off the water rushing into the river below. The steaming colorful pond it formed was a delight to view and take photos of. If you have a chance, do take the time to...

This was a really nice trail to walk and see different natural wonders. It was a nice loop that walked around to the different types of sites. The geyser was the star of the show and had the biggest crowd. Although it only takes a short moment to get a chance to see all these things. The total walk wasn't all that long. Most of the boardwalk is composite. The back loop from the geyser was wood and did have some loose boards that moved. They are not going to come off or pop up. But they do move and care should be taken. I can't recommend this enough if passing through Yellowstone. It was our favorite part...

Excelsior Geyser Crater. In my imagination, this geyser will show the fountain of steam to the air, but this is a dormant fountain-type geyser in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone. What we can see is a crater with a geyser in the middle and always boil its water and create a steam up 3 to 5 meter above. If we see the incredible 2 meting points between hot spring water and the cold water in the Firehole River. The stream of those hot spring water is coming from this geyser. This Geyser is one of the beautiful spots to be seen while you are visiting the Yellowstone.
