3 stars may be a little harsh, but I only give it 3 stars because this small pool pales in comparison to the hot spring mere yards away. The thing Opal has going for it is the dramatic background of undisturbed landscape and it’s small scale vibrant colors. You are going to walk past this one, take in it’s beauty and respect it for what it is.
In regards of how to walk the boardwalks here, I recommend walking in a counterclockwise manner, because this will warm you for the gem of the area the Grand Prismatic Spring, rather than seeing that first and then walking past the Opal and Turquoise pools, which will then seem like insignificant puddles.
