West Beach in Westbrook, CT, is a fantastic and tranquil spot for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Long Island Sound. Just a block away from my family’s beach home on Apogee Lane, this beach offers a perfect blend of relaxation and scenic views. The sandy shores provide a great place to walk, and the gentle waves make it an ideal location for dogs and families alike. My two golden retrievers, Ella and Thor, absolutely love it here. The beach is spacious enough for them to explore and enjoy the fresh air while we take in the beautiful ocean views. The atmosphere is peaceful, with just the right amount of visitors to make it feel lively but not overcrowded. One of the best parts about West Beach is its accessibility. It’s a short stroll from the house, and the proximity means we can visit often without hassle. The well-maintained pathways and the clear signage make it easy to navigate, even if it’s your first time here. Whether you’re looking to take a relaxing walk, watch the boats pass by, or simply soak up the sun, West Beach has something for everyone. Additionally, the surrounding area is clean, and the community takes great care of this natural treasure. It’s evident from the absence of litter and the well-kept surroundings that this beach is loved by locals and visitors alike. The sign by the entrance, reminding visitors of the rules, ensures that the beach remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all. In conclusion, West Beach is a gem in Westbrook. Whether you’re there for a day out with your dogs, a relaxing afternoon with family, or just a quiet moment to yourself, it provides the perfect setting. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re ever in the area.

Clean beach but very small - depending on the tide literally just a few feet of sand. Contrary to some reviews - dogs are not allowed during the season at any time on the actual beach - off season they are -dates are on website - some locals told us before 9 and after 5 was okay but signs say otherwise - great for small children though.

Says nothing about fishing so I threw a line out and accidentally snagged a kid swimming (could’ve happened to anybody) and now I’m banned from the beach. Pic of me earlier that day.
