Edit: the trail maintenence I reference below has since been taken care of. Only took a full calender year to do but none the less happy someone took care of it. Most likely some community volunteers since it doesn't seem Bill Craig does much with these trails. Original Review: Absolutely beautiful nature preserve and trails (deserving of a 5 star) unfortunately marred by a complete lack of maintenence on the trails (Bill Craig doesn't do anything but complain). Probably around 10-15 fallen trees completely blocking the trail (many of them too large or too rotted to walk over). The wood used on the bridges and raised walking platforms are so old they're close to giving out. You can feel the wood sink/ flex beneath your feet. The trails are not marked, and no maps. The parking lot area (hix enterence) is SUCH a sketchy place.
The trails themselves are gorgeous. Many times narrow, and many times due to fallen trees you have to forge your own trail to get back to the actual trail.
If Bill Craig actually put any effort into this trail, even the most minimal of effort, it'd be an...
Read moreNice wooded hiking trail ( snake, deer tracks, frogs, birds, poison ivy, creek . . .). Felt like I was in backwoods except for when one of many paths went by edge of residential backyards. 🙂 The geographically challenged could get lost in here; ' reminded me of Hansel and Gretel. I only got one or two 🦟 bites but I imagine you could get more when sun is going down. Some of paths were muddy when we went, but there were enough dry ones to keep us entertained. Wear appropriate footwear and bring a buddy or a compass. Pavilion at entrance for picnic. We did a good 3 miles on...
Read moreAmazing nature trail. Along the creek and wooded area. Some well walked and others not so much. it's little hard to follow the marked trail, the markers are vandalized or broken. Customize how ever long or short you want. Up to 14 miles.
It's closer to the city. Convenient.
Other important thing to mention. I would not go here alone, for safety reasons. there were some people who did not seem to be there to enjoy the nature. Definitely...
