Been trying to get inside this restaurant for over a year, since Covid Closed the dining room. How cool just reopened a couple weeks ago. Only a handful of Authentic Syrian Restaurants around Metro Detroit. We had a marvelous hour plus experience, the owner and staff treated us like family. Whenever we hear the names of dishes like fattoush or hummus, we think of the Lebanese cuisine. However, these dishes are also part of traditional Syrian cuisine. This is mainly because the traditional foods in Syria have been derived from various other regions of the world especially after the Islamic era. Having gone through various conquests by the Arabs, Persians and Ottoman Turks, the traditional food in Syria are similar to other cuisines like the Levant, Lebanese and middle-eastern cuisines. Kinda went over board had 4 large containers with leftovers, three of us stuffed with unique outstanding food's. Here's a list hopefully not forgotten anything. Fatoush Salad, Lentils Soup, Toum, Hummus, Syrian Spicy Red Bread. A most delicious Cauliflower n Tahini Sauce dish WOWED. Real Lamb Kafta and Chicken Kafta both bursting with unique flavors. Tender moist Rice n Falafel perfect for sharing. A smashed Lamb in a pita Arayes and a plate of very best ever Batata Harra. A OMG dish instant addiction and a must try. Batata Harra literally means spicy potatoes--a fairly popular Middle Eastern skillet potatoes dish. So Happy for this small family business open 4 year's now is very popular with hundreds of regular customers. Find Great reviews around the web Yelp Google n Facebook. #shawarmashouse @shawarmashousewestland #syriancusine #middleeasternfood #batataharra #lambkafta #chickenkafta #falafel #motorcitymunchers

What an absolute gem! First I want to thank everybody that gave this place a good review. It is well deserved. Honestly, that’s what prompted me to pay a visit. The food was delicious, the portions generous and the service exceptional. Actually, the entire experience was exceptional. I called in a custom order and they got it right! The owner, Masoud. is extremely nice and welcoming and it is evident that he takes pride in his work. The quality of the ingredients and the freshness really stand out. The salad was so fresh and crisp and the tangy salad dressing just took it to another level. The chicken and lamb shawarma was moist and tender. Likewise the chicken and lamb kafta were heavenly and the kebabs were like tender marshmallows and oh so savory. And then you have the combination of the fries, hummus, garlic sauce and hot sauce, it was as if I was in Syria or Turkey. Even got a complimentary baklava. Super authentic! I will definitely be back, in fact this is my new go-to Middle Eastern restaurant. Masoud, if you are reading this, great job!

After coming to the USA, I tried shawarma for the first time and surprisingly, I really liked it. The flavors are different from what I was used to, but the mix of spices, tender meat, and garlic sauce grew on me quickly. It’s become one of my go-to meals now. I usually get it from a local spot where the atmosphere is also quite nice—clean, cozy, and welcoming. The staff is friendly and they prepare everything fresh, which I appreciate. The place isn’t too loud, making it comfortable to sit and enjoy the food. I didn’t expect to enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine this much, but shawarma definitely changed my mind. It’s flavorful, filling, and feels like a good comfort food option. I’d recommend anyone new to it to give it a try—you might be surprised like I was. It’s now a regular part of my meals here in the U.S.

My husband and I like to try various shawarma restaurants in Detroit & the Metro Detroit area. When we saw 4.9 stars and raving reviews, we definitely wanted to give this spot a try. Unfortunately we were both disappointed. We got the beef shawarma sandwich and the chicken shawarma plate but we substituted the rice for grilled vegetables because we wanted to go lower carb. It also came with the salad.

Pros: food was hot and fresh and take out order was done quickly. The chicken shawarma has a unique taste that was nice though not as flavorful as our favorite spot (most the meat doesn't have any seasoning on it).

Cons:

-They make the shawarma with chicken breast and the seasoning is put on before the breast is cut so the flavor wasn't enough to cover the amount of chicken. If they cut the chicken before seasoning and cooking it then there'd be more overall flavor.

-even though we were there 30 minutes before closing, they said they weren't making smoothies/lemonade anymore.

-the salad had so much mint or something on it that we couldn't eat it. We both like the Mediterranean salad dressing that typically comes on salads so we know what it's normally like. This was something else way to overbearing.

-other places we go let us substitute grilled veggies in place of rice for no extra charge. This was $1.50 extra but the veggies weren't even seasoned and didn't seem to have any oil on them - just dry, grilled veggies. Not worth the extra charge.

-neither of us liked the taste/flavor of the beef shawarma sandwich. Not sure what the raving reviews are about for that one.

-the prices here are relatively high.

It's one of those, "At least we tried it" things but we won't be...

Honestly, when I walked in I was a bit apprehensive. It didn’t look very inviting and the menu was very dirty (I didn’t even pick it up but they brought over paper take out menus). I was very close to walking out. The tables were not set and I don’t think they are used to people dining in. The reviews were 4.9 out of 5, so I decided to give it a shot. The owner was very friendly and took our order. My husband and I got the chicken shawarma plate and our daughter got a burger. The salad was brought right away and was really amazing! So flavorful! They also brought out complimentary garlic paste with pita, which was completely different tasting in the very best way. The entrees came out and everything was cooked to perfection! The rice was perfect, The chicken was terrific and the hummus was really really good! The food was absolutely phenomenal! Then to top it off, when we were done we all got complimentary baklava! My husband and I found our new place for all Mediterranean! We are anticipating our return! Let’s just hope they make it a little more inviting next time with cleaner menus and tables set. Thank you for cooking with love! I can see why your reviews...
