Two stars for previous and pleasant purchases at the Wharton location.
However...
Earlier this year my partner and I lived through a month-long nightmare after purchasing a Montana Bookcase Storage bedframe, a king mattress and an electric adjustable mattress base lift, at the Wharton Bob's Store.
The nightmare begins when we found out, on the day of the delivery, that the salesman did not offer a service called, "White Glove Delivery", which simply means that the delivery crew would bring the furniture into our home, assemble it and remove the boxes and plastic from our premises. In other words, the crew was ready to leave our furniture in our garage because we had a Standard Delivery. Luckily, they felt bad and were kind enough to carry several heavy and unassembled-boxed furniture up to our second floor apartment.
No biggie, right? Wrong!
My partner and I were left with the task of assembling the heavy bedframe and bookcase to shortly find out that the wooden bed rails that were delivered were used and damaged. We waited two weeks for the new bed rails.
Here begins a series of issues and the worst problem of all.
The adjustable electric base lift was too heavy for the wooden slabs that are placed on the bedframe which supports the king mattress, the two storage drawers that came with the set would not fit underneath the bed with the adjustable base lift and the bed was literally too tall for us to climb.
Finally, after calling customer service over six times and asking that someone please pick up the adjustable base lift and refund our money, they sent an inspector who agreed that the base lift cannot be used with the storage bookcase and the wooden slabs were going to break with the weight of the mattress, adjustable base lift and my partner and I.
Apparently, Bob's Store has a fine print policy stating that the purchases are non refundable except for the mattresses.
Why didn't the salesman know that the adjustable base lift cannot be bought with the Montana Storage Bookcase and underneath storage drawers? Why did he assume that we would know that there are two types of deliveries; Standard or White Glove? I will never know.
For all future Bob's Store orders, online is the way...
Read moreA very bad experience. Truck showed up today after a very efficient routing and driver contact with us. Delivery time was within given time. Unfortunately I cannot recommend doing business with this company as Solomon (salesperson) told us when we placed order (we paid $349.99 for white glove delivery) that we should show the driver as soon as he got here the DayBed that we were scheduled to have their team pick up. When shown the driver said no could only take two mattresses as it would cost $30 to scrap the frames. We refused and the driver called his dispatch on my phone. They told him to leave with our purchase still on Bob's truck. With one foot on the running board of the truck I called the store and through their terrible phone system Solomon finally was on the line. He said that they were only to pick up mattresses. That is not the discussion we had in the store. At that point the truck driver was already late for his next stop so he followed the directions he was given by his dispatch and left while I was still speaking with Solomon. No resolution so I called my credit card company to explain as above and we will need now to fight to get our money back. Buyer Beware. Update. Solomon the salesperson called back about half an hour later to berate us about why would we expect them to pick up when we did not have a mattress as part of our order. (We had actually ordered a mattress as part of the original order but then decided to get a Purple Mattress instead) We have the feeling Solomon was upset about that mattress cancellation so he felt empowered to try to argue that was why they would not pick up. However during this 'heated debate' the manager, Dan, interrupted saying that the pick up should never have been promised. That he had been a manager there for 14 years and it was just something they did not do. Dan was gracious and conciliatory, definitely wish we had spoken with him on the day we ordered then this situation may never have occurred. We feel better about Bob's in light of this conversation but unfortunately without the pick up of the existing DayBed the purchase is...
Read moreI recently visited the Bob's Store in Wharton, NJ. I was in the area shopping for specific pieces of furniture for my employer, and I noticed the Bob's store and decided to stop in to check it out. Not only was I extremely satisfied with the product availability and quality, but I was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding customer service from start to finish.
I was greeted by one of the sales people, Paul, but not in the usual overly assertive and/or aggressive manner in which you are usually greeted in most furniture stores. Paul. was knowledgeable about the products and availability, and went out of his way to make sure to answer my questions thoroughly. He helped me to get my order processed, and he continued to check in with me while I was completing the transaction with customer service. The final step was a bit time consuming, but I think it was understandable, given the fact that it was a tax-exempt sale and also the first time I made a purchase from Bob's.
I would highly recommend this store to anyone who is looking to purchase any type of furniture. Their prices can't be beat, most items are in stock and ready for delivery within the next few days to a week, and their selection is excellent compared to their competitors.
Also, delivery was effortless and the item was set up for use by the delivery service, within the time frame that was provided to me. I was able to check the status of the order and the delivery time window easily online, which was an added bonus for me. There is no question in my mind that I will be returning to see Paul at Bob's in the very near future, to purchase several...
