I’ve been meaning to have my great grandmothers homemade hand-stitched Barbie clothes framed. It’s one of those projects where I just have to take the 1st step: put all the Barbie clothes in a bag and bring them to Dupage Framing Center.
So I did that. THAT alone was a big enough step! Thankfully Bob and Mary helped me with the rest of the way.
This is a very sentimental framing project and they were both lovely to work with! Mary was more of the creative mastermind while Bob floated around to give his 2 cents here and there.
We started grandiose. Maybe too grandiose for my budget. Custom framing is expensive - Mary explained to me that “fabric goes with fabric”. These little Barbie clothes would be sewn onto a fabric background. She herself sewed each piece onto a gorgeous pinstripe silk background that I chose. Bob was great helping pick a frame that was deep enough to showcase the clothing. They both offered several options and allowed me to take my time choosing.
I’m so over the moon with how my project turned out. I’m eager to create a few other projects that have been swirling around in my brain with them! Thank you so much for the care and effort you out...
Read moreI've had really great experiences with this place. I came to them with an unusual project -- framing my great-grandfather's old fiddle. I had ideas about the look I wanted, and no one else seemed to be able to do it. They either said no they couldn't, or tried to sell me something that wasn't what I wanted, and also very expensive. DuPage framing worked with me until they understood what I wanted, and they helped come up with a result that was better than I could have imagined. Beautiful, perfect for our space, no damage to the instrument.
Several months later, I came to them with a rush job, at a time when they were obviously pretty busy. They understood the reason for the rush, and got it done on time, without charging extra for it.
In both cases, they did suggest up-sells. When I said no, it wasn't what I wanted, they excepted that with no pressure. In the case I went for it, I was very happy...
Read moreThe high level of service and expertise saved us time and possibly a costly mistake. We purchased a 40x60 canvas online and brought it to DFC and Bob meticulously went through the framing measurements for a floating frame only to discover one side of frame was warped. This defect would not allow for the frame we desperately desired. We discussed options and ultimately decided to attempt to exchange canvas hoping the replacement wasn’t defective. We were nervous as we walked into DFC and watching Bob assess our canvas. Fortunately it passed inspection and we chose and ordered the frame. In less than two weeks our art work was ready. We could not be more pleased....
