Loved it. As everybody else said: The owner is very friendly and relaxed. He gave us great advice on where to paddle -- but left the choice to us. The boats were in very good shape -- clean, fiberglass kayaks. We had a great time. We went downriver, so we had the tide and wind with us on the way back -- though we were paddling against the flow of the river. Looking back, we feel this was certainly the right choice: The sandy spot where we turned around was very nice. The crossing of the bay near Nehalem was just enough adventure in our open kayaks. And on the way back, the tide and wind pushed us very nicely. It was windy and sunny. It was nice to have a windbreaker -- some of us did not and ended up being a bit cold at times and sunburnt. Everyone had a fantastic time. The owner reassured us that he was going to be generous about the time limit -- this made the trip much more relaxed than if we had to be back at an exact time. We will certainly back. Maybe we try fishing here next time. This is probably a great place to...
Read moreExtremely easy to find. Called to see if I needed a reservation for a kayak, didn’t need one so walk ups are available. Very smooth process, probably the best one Ive had. Signed my wavier, paid and they got everything set up. No more than 5 minutes to do all that and already be on my way in the water.
Overall the experience is 10 for 10. The views were amazing. The only con I had isn’t on the business at all, but simply wake etiquette. I don’t kayak often, so im not extremely experienced in managing waves caused by larger boats speeding by. But with that being said, I didn’t fall out or have any real issues. Just maybe a bit worrisome when it would happen.
The price for 4 hours is a golden ticket for me who just wants to get some time on the water without owning or tugging around my own kayak. I...
Read moreAlthough I did not rent a kayak if I had more time and was not on the schedule I probably would have spent a day here and taking the kayak out onto the water so if you're ever traveling through the area and you see wheeler Marina and you have a little time on your hand stop and rent a kayak looks like a lot of fun although I did not do it but I'm sure that it would be reasonably priced and think of the memories you'll create kayaking out of the water in such a beautiful area. In hindsight I wish I would have rented a kayak and spend a day there maybe I'm an next trip we'll see. That's about all I have to say you stay safe and have safe...
