I didn’t get a chance to actually stay at this hotel so I can’t speak on the hotel itself. I will however share my experience with booking here. I had a reservation for a room last April, and long story short, I wasn’t able to make it to the coast due to a family emergency. It was very last minute and it was a hectic time and I wasn’t able to call and cancel. Knowing that, I didn’t try to get a refund, not even a partial, I just took the loss. However, I still wanted to stay here so I had talked to the owner (I’m assuming) and I apologized about not making it and said I would still love to come check it out and stay here at a later date. I had asked about getting a discounted rate since I wasn’t able to get a refund for previous booking and was told that would be fine. Again, I didn’t expect a refund for my first booking since I wasn’t able to give proper notice. Anyways, fast forward to March 2024, I call to book a room, talk to the same person on the phone, they pull up my information, but now says they will no longer honor the discounted rate because it was “rude” that I wasn’t able to make it back in April. I was out the $200 dollars the first time, I didn’t ask for the money back. They still got there money for the night for that room, and also didn’t have to pay to have it cleaned or anything. But now I’m rude? It’s just not how I would do business. There’s plenty of other hotels and I will take my business there. Edit: Again, I didn’t expect a refund, nor did I even ask for one. Regardless, I paid full price for the room, you weren’t out any money even if you did pay the cleaners and the 15% booking fee. If you hadn’t already agreed for a discount on a room at a later date, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But to then change your mind and call me rude… Did I argue to get my money back? No. Family emergencies happen, and I apologized for not taking time out of the night when I was in a hospital room, but it wasn’t on my mind. Hence the reason I didn’t even ask for a refund. Does...
Read moreWhile planning our honeymoon I was looking for someplace new to stay and Google suggested this one.. After reading the wonderful reviews I decided to book it, and I am sure happy I did. What a wonderfully charming place. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and that room is dialed. The tub has powerful jets. The bed is the softest most comfortable one we have ever slept on. The view... laying in bed eating breakfast looking out at the lake thru all the windows, it was beautiful and relaxing. We decided to get some groceries and barbeque out on the deck one night... I read my room manual and it said they had all of the supplies we needed we just had to ask, they did, they had a cute little kit for us to use. When we forgot butter they were nice enough to give us a stick of their own. Martha and Gordon are WONDERFUL hosts. We felt welcomed and comfortable. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL, the sunsets from the deck were awesome. When we needed things I felt like they were happy to help not annoyed or bothered like you get in bigger places. If you are into watching movies they have a huge collection to choose from and games in the office you can use. The rooms were so well equipped with anything we needed down to salt and pepper. Plates, bowls, cups, silverware they had it all. Every time we were like it would be nice if they had... we opened a drawer and there it was :) even a deck of cards with a cribbage board, which we love to play I would stay here again anytime. We had a spectacular time. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they use Charmin toilet paper. I know it's picky but that is one of my biggest complaints when staying in a hotel usually the TP is 1 ply junk not here. The paper towels were bounty, the plates and bowls were dixie. There were even Clorox wipes under the sink just in case. This room was so beautiful peaceful and just wonderfully laid out. We wanted to stay a few more nights :) But work...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here in the Honeymoon Suite this past Monday and part of Tuesday. The first thing we noticed was the lodge is supposed to be pet free. When we entered the office, we were greeted by Martha and her dog Birdie. Hmmmm, I thought the place was pet free. We got to our room. We kinda looked at each other wondering where the Suite was. The room was a glorified hotel room. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The microwave was on its way out as you had to push the start button 4 or 5 times to get it to work. Maybe there was a "sweet spot " we weren't privy to. To get the fireplace to work, you had to slap the side of it to work. The tub was very long and deep. Plenty of room for 2 people. Be aware, if you have any disabilities, I wouldn't advise it. Difficult to get in and out of. The continental breakfast really isn't one. You can have a choice of pre-packaged pastries (Entenmans) of which they didn't have the one I selected so another was substituted. The breakfast sandwich was a Jimmy Dean egg, sausage and cheese. My husband said it tasted like sawdust. We drove into Nehalem for a bagel. Good selection of teas and the coffee was good. Make sure you turn off the space heater if you want to run the microwave or coffee maker or it'll blow the breaker. Running the television was another issue. You have to use the Roku to turn it on, off and for the volume. Use the Directv remote for the rest and the DVD player was another pain in the butt. If you're not tech savvy, you're going to have a difficult time. The plates and bowls are paper. Nice drinking glasses, decent silverware. There's no ice maker. You can get a bucket of ice from the office ice maker. I would suggest bringing your own. Refrigerator was decent but froze some of our food. All in all for $198 a night we were...
