This is an old City park in a good location that has fallen on hard times for lack of maintenance. The former facilities are closed. The basketball courts are in bad shape. The view from Broom Street is amazing, looking down across the City to the Delaware River and beyond. There are mature trees and rocks and lawns, but not much else in the way of sustainable native plantings. A recent community festival produced a nice turnout of neighborhood residents. The broad park is bordered by the old Polish neighborhood, Maryland Avenue, and African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods, as well as newer middle-class homes...
