Edited: This edit is a long time coming; my apologies to the owner for not getting this out there sooner. But after hearing about my experience the owner of Kidstock! was incredibly accommodating, taking ownership of lapses in communication and working with me to find a resolution. While I am still surprised about the staff-to-child ratio and the fact that the staff do not remain with the kids for the entire party, I'm really satisfied with the way my issues were handled. Thanks, Kidstock!
Original Post: Just had my daughter's eighth birthday here. A lot of great things, but also some surprising ones that I wish I'd known in advance!
The good: The party director helping us out was enthusiastic and full of energy! The kids loved him The activities were fun and kept the kids engaged The performance was adorable The facility was clean and welcoming - perfect for a kid's party The pizza was really good - delivered promptly and hot! Working to coordinate was simple and seamless. The facility was prompt and responsive to emails. My daughter got sick the day before she was originally scheduled to have her party in December, and they were great about rescheduling for January.
The not as good/surprising: Our original headcount was 20, and there is an extra fee for parties larger than 12, which I had assumed was to pay for an additional assistant. However, there was only one party director caring for our party. Thankfully, we had a number of cancellations due to illness, so it was okay - but I am not sure that one person could have handled 20 kids. After the performance, we were taken to the party room for pizza and cake. Once we got there we were told, "They're all yours for the next forty-five minutes," and the party director left us to serve the kids pizza and cake by ourselves. I was not expecting to have to entertain the kids for forty-five minutes on our own - at other facilities, the employees generally help with that! Not a huge problem; just a surprise to be thrust into action. The original emails stated that goodie bags were included in the price. But when we got there the party director said, "There was no note that you ordered any." The email clearly stated they are included in the base fee and not an additional cost. A disappointment, as I would have prepared my own if I had known they wouldn't be provided. I felt bad that we had nothing to give the kids at the end!
None of these are total deal breakers as my daughter and her friends had a blast - but these are things I wish I had known before booking my party. Hope it is...
Read moreWe had my daughter's 9th birthday party at Kidstock Creative Theater. We had 24 kids mainly 8 to 9. Two 4 year olds that were siblings came and it was a bit overwhelming for them to be in the mix with so many older children but they ended up having fun playing with each other. My daughter greatly enjoyed the experience and "rates it five stars." They started with some games for 30 minutes then went to the theater where they split into groups of three and performed a play based on the tale of "missing ultimate potato boy ." That was about 45 minutes and then the remainder of the 45 minutes was in the party room for cake and pizza. They provide 3 pizzas as part of the package and we purchased 2 more which was about right for a party of 24 children. Some had 1 piece and some had 3 pieces of pizza a piece. We did the goodie bags which a photo is shown here of the contents. Lauren was the theater director who called to go over details and they were also very responsive over the phone. All in all a...
Read moreWe just had my daughter's 8th birthday party at Kidstock! and it was fabulous. Lauren (Event & Programs Director) coordinated things beautifully leading up to the day and was very knowledgeable and responsive. Dominic (Educational Artist) is a wonder of a human being and lead the kids through some warm up games and then scripting/rehearsing/performing a super cute play about a missing crown. All the kids had a great time whether they liked to ham it up in front of a crowd or preferred to work behind the scenes in lighting/filming. We ended up having about 17 kids in total, but the way they've planned it out, I'd imagine it could work for a large range of party sizes. It felt calm and easy and 100% worth the cost. I highly recommend Kidstock!, it's run by a creative and...
