I came in looking for a replacement ballast and replacement bulbs for a 20-year old fluorescent ceiling fixture. They said that unfortunately the ballast would be unavailable for several weeks due to COVID19, and suggested a big box store that might still have some. After further discussion, they said, "We're not sure how much longer fluorescent bulbs will be manufactured because LED technology is so much better. If it were my kitchen, I wouldn't put all that money into such an old fixture -- you'd do better to just put the money toward replacing it with an LED fixture." They helped me choose an appropriate fixture, and I left feeling like they had taken time to listen to my concerns and helped me make a good decision. I would stick with Home Depot, Lowes or Amazon. At least they accept returns without requiring an additional purchase. I'll eat the cost, and donate the fixture to Habit for Humanity. These independents are on there way out. Apparently they had a rogue counter person misleading their customers, she has since retired, and they can't confirm or deny the information she gave me..
