I have mixed feelings about this place. As a beginner, I didn't really know what to expect from a day on the field. Coming to Bass River was beautiful, they have properly groomed fields and the holes are interesting in their layout. Also it's cool that the carts have live tracking of where you are on the green, so that is nice! But here is the part that mattered to me, and is the reason why I ended up leaving at the 3rd hole. The staff were clear when we signed up about the rules of the course. We were asked to rent bags if we didn't have any, at 15 USD per person. We purchased the appropriate equipment, and off we went. We were a group with 3 beginners, 2 intermediates and 4 decent players. We let every other person ahead of us when ever we would hold up at a hole for too long, and we tried to be quiet and respectful during their game. Instead of properly assessing I the situation, the staff assumed that we were trying to group up and would come over to "reexplain" the rules of the course and how we were supposed to continuously play and move forward. It just made the whole experience very unpleasant, having only golfed once before. I felt pressure to perform, and ostracised for my lack of experience. In the end they put so much pressure on us that we all just tried to spread out across the holes as far as we could, to try an prove that we were just trying to play and not hang around. My friends were forced to move on with each of their successful hits, and so slowly they stopped teaching me the proper techniques and advice I desperately needed. This was not what I payed 68 USD for. I wanted to have a fun, enjoyable day in the sun, playing golf with my friends and partner. Instead I left at the 3rd hole out of embarrassment, since after every so many short, off axis shots, I was forced to give up and just walk on forward. What I'm trying to say is that this place definitely discriminates their user base to perfection. If you're good, you'd enjoy coming here. If not, I really recommend going somewhere else, or really, really, try to conform to the stereotypical golfer style and behavior. Otherwise...
Read moreI went to Bass River with my girlfriend who is inexperienced in golf and we still had an absolutely amazing time. To start, the very nice woman in the front of the pro shop helped us get onto the course as fast as possible all with an amazing attitude. The man in charge of the carts had an amazing attitude and helped us very much with our cart and equipment. Leading onto the beautiful first hole, there was a man who was helping us by explaining some of the holes on the course that were a little tricky for some members. We had an absolutely amazing time, took many many photos of the beautiful scenery, and couldn’t believe we were golfing at such a nice course. When we were done we knew we would have to take a trip to the pro shop. And again as we were shopping, the woman behind the desk helped multiple golfers get onto the course very quickly before the last tee times. And when I was getting a glove, she asked me to double check to make sure it was the right one, which saved me from picking the wrong size. Overall amazing course, Even better customer service, and definitely a long...
Read moreSo..... I really liked this course. Its well maintained & the layout is great. I got paired up with 2 members, which sometimes can be intimidating they know the course and sometimes I've had members give me an attitude. I actually ended up having a great time with them. This would have 5 stars if it wasn't for the starter. He was letting people off when it wasn't time and held my group up waiting for another person to join. The issue is when that person showed up now it was 15min past the time instead of sending our group. Now the course got completely backed up and I waited on every single teebox for now 20 minutes with nobody behind me. I get its only 20 minutes but I also had dinner plans and had to leave on the 16th hole. Not cool in my book. I booked a time and I was 15 minutes early. If the course wants the respect from the golfers and their tee times then you also need to respect the golfers time as well. They should have sent us out on our tee time and figured something out with the other guy! Let me know how...
