This is a very cute park with great playground equipment that is very accessible for kids of varying abilities. It has a pickleball/basketball court, a covered picnic area, and plenty of green space. The lawn seemed well maintained, but only the lawn and trash cans seemed maintained. We didn't use the restrooms, so I can't speak to their condition.
On 9/28/25 when we visited, the playground and picnic area were filthy. The entire area was full of debris from a birthday party that was obviously not recent based on how dirty and deflated leftover balloons were. There was cake pieces in the boat playground which drew countless ants which were crawling all over it. There was trash and hay around the picnic tables and playground. My wife and I cleaned up some of the trash. Interestingly, a worker came despite it being a Sunday. However, this was short-lived. He used a leaf blower to blow the hay into the bushes over a period of about 5 minutes, then got in his truck and left.
The boat playground had bird poop all over it. Not ideal for young kids to crawl all over. All playground had visible lines where dirty washed down onto the river mating and stained it. The large castle playground had a section for climbing that was covered in a dark, sticky liquid like someone spilled a soda or juice all over it. The picnic tables were gross and dirty.
Overall, this wasn't a bad playground. It needs some serious deep cleaning on a...
Read moreI was on a mission early this week to find my two children (ages 11 & 5) a park that was unique, fun, local, and clean. We heard about Box Canyon Park through a mom's group on Facebook so decided to check it out. Boy am I happy we did! The original park burned down during the large fire in 2008 and the residents rallied together and rebuilt the park which reopened in 2010, I believe. From what I understand, this is the only wheelchair accessible playground in North County. Now, when I say accessible it's REALLY is all over the place and not just in one piddly area. There's a MASSIVE castle structure where you can explore, go down slides, travel throughout the maze of extra wide ramps and walkways, and there's ton of climbing features to get onto the castle itself. There's a smaller pirate themed structure (which is also wheelchair accessible) for younger kids. The bathrooms are clean (which is an EXTREME plus in my book) and there's a large gazebo structure with picnic tables that can be reserved for parties through the City of...
Read moreThis park has one of the largest playgrounds in Yorba Linda. It was also just resurfaced a few months ago so very well kept. You can rent out the gazebo area for parties, it has bathrooms, pickle ball and basket ball courts, a giant open grass play area, an a pirate ship. This park also has some deep history with the Yorba Linda community. It was originally built by a neighborhood fundraising effort but burn to the ground when the last major faire swept through. The city helped completely rebuild the playground and now it's even better 🙂. This is a great place to take the kids and one of my kids favorite parks in Yorba Linda....
