Who knew that a visit to this place was on par with Andy Dufrene and Shawshank Redemption!? 🤷🏽♂️ This was the final concert in the park with the original singers of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." So we drive to YL and eat at Jimmie John's right near Veterans Sports Park which on Google Maps looks to be adjacent to the Concert in the Park. One park next to another --- how grand. Since we came up from Fountain Valley for the show, we decided to enjoy a nice leisurely walk to the venue. But just to be sure we ask a local yokel who is walking her dog if we can get to the park by walking. She says, "Yeah, but there is the middle school right there!" That should have been the tell -tale sign. I tell her the name of the park and she says, "I don't know that park, but there is a park where they play concerts." Bingo! So we decided to continue our jaunt! We start out by going along the left outfield fence because we see a passage that looks like it will lead us to our destination. Yet as we walk by the batting cages, there is a fence that has been separated and we continue. But eventually we get to another baseball field where the outfield is fenced off. So we walk along the fence and everything is locked or either fenced off. And by now the concert has started. And with no way out, we decided to give up and turn around. As we head back, we see signs that say the baseball fields are being renovated --- Hey Yorba Linda, we are in the middle of The Boys of Summer, how 'bout doing the revo during football season, ya think!🤦🏽♂️ Anyway, hey residents come on down to my area --- you know "Mile Square Park!" THE BEST AND FREEST PARK IN THE OC (yeah, talking about you Irvine [not so] Great Park! 🏧💰💲 But I digress! In the Valley of no Fountains, we have no locks, no chains and our restrooms are well-lighted. And as long as you don't go by the Public Golf course, you can enter from anywhere! FREE...
Read moreGreat park for a picnic with the family. Playground has two playsets, one for toddlers and one for older kids. It also has a swing set. The bathrooms are near the playground for quick access. They are well maintained and clean. The park has plenty of shaded area with more than a dozen picnic tables and some small charcoal bbq pits. EZ-ups are recommended if sitting at most picnic tables.
For the lover of the classic horseshoe game, there are two horseshoe pits.
Summer concerts are great at this park. Lots of fun and good atmosphere. Bring blankets, chairs and of course a picnic basket full of goodies to enjoy while you listen to...
Read moreThis is such a cool adventure playground. A very cool treehouse that parents and kids can climb and wander around in. The waterslides, sadly, have a height minimum of 48 inches. I really think it could be 38- but we didn't ask for a dispensation for our not so tall 4.5 year old. Splash pad, picnic tables and a great place to run around for many ages. Non-residents have to reserve an entrance time. Then you can stay as long as you like. Great for parties and get togethers. We drove from HB to get there and we will go back! Great for...
