We visit this park every time we're anywhere near it, driving on Route 1 in York, Maine. There's always something to see at the Nubble. Today, it was gorgeous, with blue sky, billowing clouds, and sea foam... a perfect scene! And then "Gull Man" showed up to feed the seagulls. In my photo, that really is a seagull on top of his head. The birds flew right over to him, and one of the gulls instantly claimed that spot on his hat. (Yes, Gull Man wears goggles, too, for protection.) It was a real delight to watch, and a perfect time of day - around 1 PM - to see the seagulls as well. Before we left, a large number of divers were getting into their gear to go into the water. And, as always, people were walking their dogs (it's a lovely place for that). The gift shop is a must-visit, too. You'll see items there that you won't find anywhere else... great to take home to remember your visit!

I was always looking at the lighthouse, Maine -ly at night, to ever notice the park 🏞️. My mistake! In fact, Monty Python has a song called "My Mistake", 🎵 My Mistake, what a terrible mistake.. music 🎶, oops 😬, sorry! I don't know if the park is just the gardens and lawn or if it includes the rocks , but, I had a wonderful 👍 and relaxing walk! The Nubble Lighthouse view is great, of course. I watched a lobstah boat pulling up traps, divers entering the water, something I did years ago until asthma ended that, and people fishing 🎣 on the rocks. But seeing small birds up close, singing, butterflies and bees and observing the tide pools with the life forms moving about. The grounds are well maintained. Visitor center with gift shop. Good amount of of parking 🅿️. I recommend a visit!

Sohier Park will always be my favorite place on earth, my true happy place. I spent every summer here growing up, and its beauty has been a constant in my life ever since. With breathtaking views of the ocean and the iconic Nubble Lighthouse, there’s simply no spot that compares.

For me, it’s more than just a park. It’s where I built some of my happiest childhood memories, where I found peace and joy in every visit, and where I proposed to my wife, making it forever part of our love story.

The experience is only made sweeter by the local favorites nearby: Fox’s Lobster House right at the park for fresh, delicious seafood, and Dunne’s Ice Cream just a short stroll down the road, the perfect way to end a summer evening.

Whether you come for the stunning scenery, the salty breeze off the Atlantic, or the peaceful moments of reflection, Sohier Park has a way of capturing your heart and never letting go. If you’re visiting York, don’t miss this place, you may just find it becomes your happy...
