Artsy Charmer on the waterfront
Like the title of the review states, the place oozes an artistic and Bohemian charm all through the property – from the façade of the building to the interiors. Every bit of decoration – like the masks hanging on the wall – have been tastefully selected and gives an African feel to it. For the price you pay this is a super steal in a place like Luanda where even a shady motel typically costs you an arm and a leg. Fantastic Value for money esp. considering the Stunning location!
LOCATION: Excellent location, right in the middle of the Ilha de Luanda within stone’s throw away from all the cool bars, restaurants and nightlife and located right on the waterfront!
DINE + DRINK: The highlight of the property is the lovely rooftop bar called BOTANICO that comes with spectacular views and perfect for a Sunset drink. But do note it is open only during the weekends
ROOM: I stayed in 201, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Nice views of the Ocean!; SIZE: Very compact & cozy room just barely enough to fit 2 adults with minimum luggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Small &. Compact ‘King’ bed that was barely. Able to accommodate 2 adults; BATHROOM: Clean bathroom with Stand in shower, but had a very odd repulsive smell that we couldn’t get rid off!; TOILETRIES: Local cosmetics, that were OK
FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool, so pure African Chill!
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with typical African hospitality
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free SLOW speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages – including multiple INDIAN and...

The hotel has some great features - the rooms are clean (though quite small), and the rooftop offers a beautiful view over Ilha. The location is also very nice.
However, we left with a sour taste due to how food was handled. Firstly, breakfast was advertised as included but then lots of items were priced as extras. This was strange as from my experience an included breakfast means everything is included and not just the basic items.
Upon departure we ordered 6 basic ham and cheese sandwiches that used the items that were part of the included breakfast and were shocked that each cost 3000 Kz. I would be happy to pay this if it was the price quoted on the menu but instead they charged us the same price as for a ham and cheese omelette, with the menu not even having the item we ordered. For context we had an Angolan friend with us who was outraged by the pricing.
When we asked about where this price came from, we were met with “How much do you want to pay?”, which made us even more suspicious of us being arbitrarily charged.
We hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures transparent menus for...
