Lookal Beach Club — Restaurant in Salga

This place gives me colonial vibes guarded by a post-colonial mental condition protected by frontal desc personnel. Listen, the place itself is cool, it's clean, big, and visually appealing. They have a diverse menu, the food is fresh and a good collection of wines. The selection of music is however simply horrible, uniting guests with a collective giggling. Once you are in, it's as if the front desk discrimination dies there, at the entrance and you can go back being treated as guests should be treated like. Yes, this is a member only beach club. A tight control is to be expected and respected based on just that. However, skin tone shouldn't be a clear obstacle in a dominant black country, at a place run by 2 middle aged white men. The only complaints I get from here are about profiling at the door, towards dark people with the insulting rhetoric by staff. I can't honestly not remember any of my white friends & family ever complaining about the hustle to have access. It is their right to decline all non-members who haven't even come as guests to a member present at that time. Nevertheless, their staff have a visible higher tendency to not obstruct white/light skinned non-members at the front desk, as they do a darker skinned guest. Le cadre est magnifique, mais l’expérience a été tout sauf fluide ou agréable. Dès le départ, j’ai fait un prépaiement complet, qu’ils ont encaissé en euros avec une différence de taux de change — je n’ai rien dit. Ensuite, après avoir consommé, il me restait seulement 600 Kwanza à régler (moins de 0,50 €), et ils ont tout bloqué comme si j’allais partir sans payer. Ils ont refusé la carte sans contact, refusé le cash prcq apparemment nont pas de monnaie, et m’ont traitée comme si tout tournait uniquement autour de l’argent( je n’ai pas pu profité du coucher de aoleil), ce qui est humiliant vu le montant déjà versé. Et en plus, impossible d’adapter le menu : si un ingrédient manque, ils refusent simplement toute modification/ remplacement.J’ai payé cher pour une journée que je n’ai pas pu apprécier. Très déçue et très énervée. Allez chez cafe del mar, ils sont top!!!!

O ambiente é lindo, mas a experiência foi tudo, menos fluida ou agradável. Desde o início, fiz um pré-pagamento completo, que foi cobrado em euros com uma diferença na taxa de câmbio — não falei nada. Depois de consumir, restavam apenas 600 Kwanzas para pagar (menos de 0,50 €), e bloquearam tudo como se eu fosse embora sem pagar. Recusaram o pagamento com cartão, recusaram dinheiro em espécie dizendo que não tinham troco, e me trataram como se tudo girasse apenas em torno do dinheiro (não pude aproveitar o pôr do sol), o que é humilhante, considerando o valor já pago. E além disso, impossível adaptar o menu: se faltar um ingrediente, eles simplesmente recusam qualquer substituição ou modificação. Paguei caro por um dia que não pude aproveitar. Muito decepcionada e muito irritada. Vá para o Café del Mar, eles são ótimos!!!

The food was average, very small portion for the amount we paid. Most of the items in the menu were not available only the most expensive ones were available, service super slow, they took forever to take our orders and clean the table, it was a mess. The atmosphere was the WORST, bad music, imagine going to a beach club and listening to “ Diamond “ by Rihanna, their excuse is that the Dj wasn’t there, but c’mon, I can play better music with my phone. I didn’t have fun at all, it looked like a funeral with a bunch of kids playing around. I’m definitely never going back. I was so excited but ended up very disappointed.
