I spent the months of June and July of 2018 at Casa Umare. I never saw another guest there. The advertisement stated that there was a restaurant serving lunch and dinner. The restaurant is closed. The only activity I saw there was one or two promotional events run by a wine company. I specifically chose this restaurant because it advertised a gourmet restaurant. When I wrote to Umare I mentioned looking forward to eating at the restaurant. ||||When I arrived I was shown two apartments. One was a small one bedroom and the other a much larger two bedroom, nicely furnished. Both were the same price. I chose the larger. However the apartment is extremely noisy. I heard every car, many motorcycles and dogs bark all night. The owner was surprised when informed. When I wrote to Umare I asked about smoking policy and terraces and was assured that each apartment had a balcony. My apartment, on the top floor facing Billinghurst had a minuscule balcony - not like the terraces pictured in the advertisements. ||||This is not a hotel. It is not an apartment because I never had a key. Breakfast was nice but for two months it was exactly the same till I complained. Because I was the only guest, breakfast was at 8:30 AM every day - not very convenient. I am now spending my final month in another hotel. The only reason I stayed was that the owner permitted me the use of his very large living room for tango lessons.||||The location of the building is poor with few worthwhile restaurants. The building is a nicely restored mansion. It is well maintained. The owner appears to be nice and helpful but only with those matters that are inconsequential. He lived in Umare while I was there so that he could open the door for my coming and going. The Subway is about 6 blocks away. WiFi is very poor. ||||I chose that place for work and leisure based on its advertising and its location. At best it is misleading. No amount of Feng Shui will decrease the noise of the apartment or the intellectual dishonesty exhibited by the owner and his associates. This could have been a nice stay but wasn't. The other apartments were...
