First, the good. My partner & I arrived at 5:45 in the morning after a red eye flight hoping to ditch our bags there until we could check-in that afternoon. Not only did the front desk agent immediately store our bags, he also fixed us some complementary coffee with cookies to enjoy until the sun came up. I was not expecting such treatment when we had arrived so many hours before our reservation, but it was such a blessing after a long night! All the bar staff were friendly, pleasant, and helpful. Thank you to the staff for your kindness.
Now, the less good. I was not familiar with NH Hotels as a brand and didn't know what to expect, but it surprises me that this can be considered a 4 star hotel. It is shabby. Carpet in the hallway is stained. Wallpaper is peeling at the seams and stained dark around the light switches. While the hardwood floors were maybe once visually striking, the ones in our room were badly scuffed and stained. The floor was dirty. There was dust and even a few staples on the floor, like it had not been swept. Beside the bed there were sticky spots that turned my napkin black when I scrubbed them off. We ended up taking a wet towel with some soap to wipe down the floors ourselves, and the towel came away with dirt marks on it. Did not feel comfortable walking around without my shoes on, which is just not what I would expect from a 4* hotel.
Additionally, the cable on the TV didn't work, the safe didn't work, and one of the overhead lights was just gone. Reception staff came to the room to fix the cable and the safe for us. I was not bothered by how small the bathroom was, but I didn't care for how the bath towels were stored on a shelf immediately next to and level with the toilet bowl--this is unhygienic design. All the windows were open in the gym, so it was very warm in there, prefer if there was A/C.
We booked the room through my partner's employer, who indicated breakfast was included with the rate, but the hotel informed us it was not. The cost was $3500pp. There were many options for fruit, juices, and pastries, but limited hot options.
Shower water was warm and good pressure, and even though our room was in the center of the floor, I didn't find it to be too noisy. I worked remotely from our room and the wifi speed was servicable. Appreciated that there was a power strip which supported a variety of international plugs. Location is convenient to a nice mall, although I think the NH Crillion nearby is perhaps in a more picturesque immediate neighborhood with better restaurants.
While the room ultimately did the job (a place to sleep and work), I probably wouldn't return. We spent the majority of our accommodations budget to stay in a place we expected to be nice, but expectations were not met and the value was further diminished by omitted breakfast. There are better-rated properties for a lower cost...
Read moreOf the NH hotels in the Buenos Aires centro-area, this would be a close 2nd or 3rd. The breakfast was extravagant, but it wasn't useful or efficient at times. If you like carbs... book this today. LoL. BREAKFAST: so, basically, what happened was the pastry chef from a five-star restaurant came to this hotel and decided to make breakfast. These desserts are absolutely enchanting, but it's not at all efficient in terms of a balanced meal. I sat there during breakfast and watched them discuss different ways to place desserts, but if you want eggs you have to ask. And so if you don't speak Spanish you should know that you must ask, and they'll make them for you... but there's no sign or rhyme nor reason. So, make sure to ask--in Spanish--for eggs (they will make them however you want). The most immediate emergency is that they have the hot water, hot milk, and hot coffee in upright metal tins that will burn your thumb, and you will spill it all over the place. They need to set out the hot milk and hot water like the other NH where you have to press down on the lid and place your cup under the spigot, NOT pour the metal tin with your hand... someone will get burned. The breakfast is basically a pastry chefs wonderland. The rice in the rice pudding was not done. AREA: very safe area, next to a major intersection. A few too many pedestrians don't pay attention and J-walk while looking at their cell phones, and the cars are speeding by. STARBUCKS---true to form there's a Starbucks down the street. Wherever there is a Starbucks, there's an NH nearby :-). There was no tub in my suite (sigh) very European, but should be reconfigured for the Americas. The Suite was big, but the sink came off, and water flooded out of the shower. Huge bed, lofted windows. That said this isn't a bad property... It just needs to work on efficiency. The bar and restaurant area were great. There are a lot of bland English-speaking guests, and although that's my native language, I will probably choose another NH hotel with more Spanish-speaking guests... and a bit more life/vibe. I think this NH is meant to be more touristic and catering to us Americans &...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel for only 1 night between our return from Iguazu Falls and our flight home. Room 402 is a superior room with an enormous, very comfortable bed and the usual facilities such as an in-room safe, a minibar which was locked, a kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine. Some features in the room are a bit old such as the shower door which isn't waterproof, but there's an extensive renovation programme being implemented, so this will make a difference when completed.|There is a good waterfall shower and a bidet, but the wash basin doesn't have a plug. There are a reasonable number of hangers and plenty of storage space. The bedside lighting is good and there's a work desk with adequate lighting. Especially helpful is an electric socket with space for 4 US flat pin plugs. This is such a good idea for modern travellers who carry an increasing number of items needing charging.|Breakfast was very good because there's the usual wide range of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries and cereals available as well as a variety of fruit juices and different types of milk. As well as scrambled eggs in a warming dish, they offer freshly cooked eggs in a variety of ways which was different to the other S. American hotels in which we stayed. |When we arrived at 1.30pm we were told that the room wasn't available until 3pm which is check-in time. While this was probably true, the room would have been cleaned and ready and it would have been helpful if we had been allowed in earlier. However it did give us the opportunity to have a beer and split a small, very tasty,...
