We have been to Córdoba twice before but this visit the selection of the Hotel adjacent to La Canada ‘river’.. more like a brook just now as water levels are low.. made for a more appreciative visit. The staff was excellent and it was great to be able to practice aside from Spanish, some French, some basic Patoi/Creole. We were so impressed with the different chefs that we ate all our evening meals in the hotel restaurant. Their wine selection is quite good thought one evening we tried their 6 year old Malbec and even after decanting it was showing signs of being OTH..Over the Hill. Our room on the 9th floor faced the ‘river’ and the tree lined street... no problem with street noise at all. Another major plus for us the layout of streets in South America made it possible for us to walk everywhere except of course from and to the Bus Terminal. Out the front door and to the immediate left is a great wine shop, and carry on straight and cross the street and immediately to your left is a small shop..service through the window type but they have some basic items such as water and a nice white wine...much cheaper than next door. With these pluses and the great service.. breakfast covers quite a few taste buds..yes even scrambled eggs and brown bread.. and not to forget the excellent March price ... we would definitely return here on any future ‘Canadian...
Read moreI was shocked that the Howard Johnson was advertised as an upscale hotel. It's a 3 star by Canadian standards at best. The rooms/washrooms and linens were more indicative of a roadside inn. The best factor the hotel had were comfortable beds and a fantastic staff. Without the bed and the patient friendly staff, the Howard Johnson would definitely get a 2.
Our first room stank of cigarette smoke, the orange linens and pillows had white crusty stuff on them, the floors didn't look vacuumed and we were given 2 bath towels for 4 people.
We were switched to another room which had a washroom that was the size of a small closet. It was hard to get into the shower stall, and again, only 2 towels for 4 people. At least our 2nd room had duvets.
We specifically wanted a hotel with a pool. They're pool was TINY and there was mold or mildew on the edges. I wouldn't let the kids in it. Luckily we were going to cottages (La Josefa in Curo Brochero) with a large beautiful pool after our stay at the hotel, otherwise we'd have been incredibly disappointed.
We had trouble wth our keys in both rooms. We stayed during the end of one of the busiest tourist weekends. Maybe they were overwhelmed. Still, I'll try other hotels in the 4 or 5 star...
Read moreWell located, a small but comfortable lobby. The rooms are ample and luminous. The artifitial lighting is good. The bed is ample and comfortable, the pillows are standard. There is a small desk and a comfortable armchair. The wardrobe is quite small and with drawers at the bottom, so, no place for long coats or dresses. There are local and American plugs. The furniture is standard quality, not very fancy, the carpets are quite old, but it is quite comfortable. The minibar has almost nothing. The bathroom is small, the sanitary ware is new. There is no bath tube. Amenities are enough (no paper handkerchieves, low quality shampoo). It has an augmentation mirror, well located, not very well illuminated. The hair dryer works well. The shower is spectacular: powerful, hot and with tons of water, just fantastic. Only side effect: impossible not to flood the floor. Breakfast does not have much variety and is standard to low quality. The hotel in general looks clean but cheap. The staff is wonderful: attentive, friendly, always looking for anticipating your needs. So, it is OK for business and just to...
