A bit lengthy but I feel it needs to be said. We had a horrible time at this hostel. We were left feeling upset, unsafe and ripped off.||When we arrived we were told there was an issue with the room we had booked (private bedroom with private bathroom) and that we would be given a room next door in their "new" sister hostel. This room would only be a private room with shared bathroom so we were offered a discount.|||This is where the issues started. |||They insisted we pay cash. I now believe that this was so that they could pocket the money, as they cancelled the booking on the website. Meaning we could not review them on the website we had booked on.|||The "new" sister hostel turned out to be still under construction. The first night we were there the only plumbing was a couple of toilets and the kitchen sink. The showers did not work, the bathroom sink did not work. We had to go next door to shower (and even then there was only hot water the first night).||There were no windows or doors on many of the walls, this made for lovely indoor outdoor flow while eating breakfast but was a bit concerning at night. ||There was saw dust and building equipment everywhere.||The room, while lockable, had only a bed inside. There was no where to put bags, hang up towels or even a mirror anywhere in the building.||We were left feeling like they had merely placed a bed in a construction site and charged us for it.||The actual hostel looked far better than the one we slept in but even then there were issues. The showers were only hot on the first night. There was nowhere to put your stuff while showering as the hooks were inside the shower cubicle. The baggage storage was behind the front desk so was not secure.||I would never recommend this place to someone traveling to the falls and will never stay...
Read moreThis hostel has the potential to be good. But unfortunately through lack of effort it is really not good at all. Dorms are cramped. My locker in the dorm wouldn't close so had to share my girlfriends. Bathrooms are generally well kept but there isn't many of them! Beds are truly uncomfortable. Air conditioning only goes on at 8pm until morning, bedrooms are no go zones during the heat of the day as a result! Kitchen, oh goodness the kitchen. Whether it be lack of effort on the staff side or else really ignorant backpackers (most likely a combo of these) it was rank! Blocked sink, dirty dish cloths, ants everywhere! Breakfast was fairly measly as well with crackers/biscuits, bread and a piece of fruit. Not very appetising! It rained while we were there - it's tropical so it rains a lot - and the pool goes a rancid colour in the rain so that doesn't help cooling during the day. There is a common chill out area outside on a balcony, which is directly attached to 3 dorms. So with ignorant guests, it's fairly loud at night even with normal conversation. It's a few minutes walk from town and bus terminal so no issue with location. Not sure about other options in this town, but surely there is...
Read moreI stayed in January 2018. I took a taxi from the bus station and I'm glad I did, because it was dark when I arrived and the streets to the hostel are poorly lit.||That said, in the cold light of day I could see that the area and the city are actually very safe, and the bus station is walkable.||The staff were great, and very helpful when I was planning my visit to Iguazu Falls. ||2 reasons I am marking it as 3/5 - one is that the bathrooms are bit old school and grotty, and there's only one separate toilet. The second is that is was crazy hot when I was there and none of the staff had explained that we could have the AC on, which made for a very uncomfortable night. I found out we could use it the second night but they don't leave the remote in the room, so you're either really hot or get really cold and have to get up to get them to adjust the temperature. ||Otherwise, it has a good kitchen and good wifi, and is clean. Needs more charging points in the dorm and the locker I had was under my bed, hard to access and noisy to open - totally impractical. But I enjoyed my stay here. Did not use the pool but it...
