Jardin de los Picaflores — Attraction in Puerto Iguazú

Absolutely lovely! A quiet meeting point between nature and people, where both benefit.

The first thing you'll notice is the sound of buzzing and chirping as the birds flit around. The garden has a few busy feeding stations surrounded by tropical vegetation, with benches along the sides. The birds are free to come and go, and they choose to stay. Seeing how close they let humans approach was a testament to how safe they must feel.

The employees were kind, soft-spoken and knowledgable. They explained that the project was started over 40 years ago by their mother, and has been kept going ever since.

Amazing little private garden where you can spot dozens of different species of colibrì and other small birds. Has been founded 48 years ago literally by a lady in her backyard and now it is managed by her son (she still lives there). Cumple con lo que dice ser. Un "Jardín con picaflores", pero nada más que eso. El lugar es un jardín privado de una casa, con plantas, bebederos para pájaros y una tortuga en una fuentecita de agua bastante descuidada (dan ganas de rescatarla). Hay picaflores? Si, pero no hay nada que te invite a quedarte en el lugar. Ni la persona que te atiende en la entrada (que debe ser el mismo que responde los mensajes insultando al que pone bajas calificaciones al recinto), al lugar en sí. No hay baños, no hay refrigerios, no se sintió para nada cómoda la visita. Valor de la entrada en Septiembre 2025: $10.000. Se jactan diciendo que podes pasar todo el día ahí, pero con 10 minutos te dan ganas de irte. Solo por comparar, la entrada al parque Iguazú sale $15.000 (senderos, garganta del diablo, majestuosidad por donde mires, mucha fauna, mucha flora, no terminas de recorrer el lugar en todo el día). La Aripuca $6.000 (con restaurant, show, heladería, souvenirs, artesanías, un jardín hermoso para tirarte a tomar mate.) Parque de las Aves $20.000 (el doble, pero con un recorrido mínimo de 3 horas y aparte de toda la diversidad gastronómica, pájaros y otros animales, también está lleno de colibríes). Y todos esos lugares tienen la particularidad de que te atienden de buena gana, no una persona resoplando porque "no hiciste una reserva", para al final hacerte pasar e indicarte dónde abonar la entrada. Después de pagar, te dicen donde están los folletos para que puedas diferenciar a los Trochilidae. Lo rescatable? Queda como una buena anécdota...
