Blueys Retreat — Hotel in Blueys Beach

We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhouse for 5 nights over the Easter break.|Nathan was welcoming & friendly at the front desk for a prompt check in. Our accommodation was very clean (perhaps too clean as the house smelt of a very strong disinfectant for our first couple of days, though this isn’t meant to be a criticism).|It seems the units are all owned individually and ours well-appointed and well looked after). It had all the facilities we needed. Our neighbours were quiet and courteous and it wasn’t overly busy like another resort we visited in the area (to be expected at Easter).|We enjoyed many of the local beaches and cafes, as well as venturing to Forster Tuncurry. We also had good facilities for self catering, which we did also. The pool was nice, not overly busy and the tennis court also had balls & racquets to use.|It seems the on-site cafe is being done up which will be a welcome addition to the resort, however these areas have suffered during Covid and you can see many local shops etc have closed or are only just reopening. Our stay at Blueys Retret was cut short due to the townhouse lack of cleanliness and vermin throughout the property. Management initially said they would offer a discount for nights stayed and a refund for an early check out, however they failed to honour this promise. Instead, when we elected to depart the property early, we were told that we were given a “free night”. It’s not free if you’ve checked out and are no longer using the service! The management style here is to allow sub standard cleaning, smile and pretend that the presence of German cockroaches and ants throughout the property is more about the high standard of the guest, than the poor standards of the property. We experienced ants attracted to an open sugar bowl, unclean kitchen utensils, baked on food on fry pans and saucepans, cockroaches in the bathrooms and bedrooms, filthy walls, spider webs, dust on the bedheads,...

Positives: Lovely owners and service Spacious living especially for family Nice little extras like outdoor showers Free WIFI Fun breakout area near reception Brand new tennis court Sealed off outdoor living area Great private location Fairly modern facilities! Negatives: Cleanliness is not great AT ALL if this is important to you. Hairs on mattress protector Bugs EVERYWHERE DUST EVERYWHERE Spider webs all over high ceiling Dead bugs all over the place No basic ammenities eg tea and coffee No spare towels No AIR CONDITION UNIT IN ANY HOUSE Had to call back owners to clean toilet.
