Castle Motor Lodge Motel — Hotel in Bowen

14/5/25 1 night $149 Room 6 Motel grounds are huge with plenty of parking, there’s even the front end of a semi parked inside. They also have a pool in the centre of the courtyard. Nothing flash. A very old style motel the type with the exposed brick walls common in the 60’s/70’s even the lights on the wall are from that era. Room is huge. There is a queen bed and 2 singles. Along the opposite wall which starts at the door a fridge, luggage rack, desk with 2 chairs, bench space with cupboards, a microwave and tv all on top, finish with a double door cupboard. There is a kettle and toaster. A note on the toaster. I was cooking crumpets they hadn’t even turned to colour and I was standing right over it at the time, the smoke alarm went off. I freaked because last time this happened in Tassie the fire brigade turned up. By the time we left I counted another 6 that had gone off. Thank goodness no fire brigade and no management, so it must happen all the time. The floor is tiled down the traffic area. Bathroom at end is small and looks newly renovated, exceptionally clean but I dislike the shower curtain. Toiletries include small tube shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Thank goodness non of those crappy little soaps a regular pump pack on the vanity. The only thing I didn’t like was the shower. Small rose which let out piercing sprays of water. My husband said you get 2 for 1 a shower and acupuncture at the same time and free, funny huh! But that’s what it feels like. Other than that the motel room was exceptionally clean...

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed on two consecutive nights but didn't book together therefore we saw two different rooms. In one, the TV remote wasn't working (which we could have had fixed but chose not to) but that is the only thing we could fault. The service was outstanding. We ate un the restaurant on the second night. The service was A1. Nothing could be faulted. The wait staff were conversational, friendly, attentive without being over the top. I chose the seafood crepe... one of the best I have ever tastes! The prawns were fresh and the scallops were to die for! Would 100% recommend the stay and the meal. Three months ago I had a wonderfully meal at the castle restaurant. Last night I had a meal that could only be described as being cook by a person who has just come from cooking for shears on a sheep station. Baked vegetables with your choice of meat. All the meat seemed to be cooked in the same tray. I had lame shank plonked on a plate of baked vegs. The pork ribs looked and tastedthe same as shank plunked on a plate of baked vegetables. Steak look the same as shank and ribs and you guess it plonked on a plate of baked vegetables. Better meals can be had in town for half the $40.00 per plate(appox)I was charged. Highly DO...
