The Fridge didn't work, we notified reception who said they would change it over and never did. Our apartment smelled like a wet dog had been through it after we returned from a two day trip to Magnetic Island. The apartment was full of cockroaches and when we initially arrived we found other people's hair in our bed. It wasn't clean at all and there are homeless people standing around the carpark area where we had parked our rental car due to a salvation army homeless shelter next door. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking in the common area hallways, we ended up cutting our stay short due to this.
In response to the owners comment below: You were obviously in Townsville referring to Magnetic Island whish is 400 Km south of us. So I'm not sure this review is for us. It doesn't sound like us but I do tire of Victorians complaining about the humidity when we have a storm in Cairns. Welcome to the tropics, it's in your room, it's in the street, it's everywhere. Next time try and enjoy the difference to Victoria.
I'm definitely no referring to Townsville, I'm well aware where your hotel is located as I stayed here, it is definitely your hotel and I'm very confident I can assure you of this. To get personal towards a paying customer and to call me 'a complaining Victorian' is extremely unprofessional and is of absolute poor taste, which frankly reflects your desire to take on constructive critiscm and do something positive with it. I hope future customers do see this response and understand the poor customer service I had been initially referring...
Read moreThis hotel was part of a package that we had paid extra money for a luxury 4.5/5 star hotel. This hotel is NOT 4.5 stars even though booking.com gives it that rating or even 4 stars as other agencies rate it. If your are a tourist in Cairns this hotel is NOT for you. It is 3 km from the CBD, their courtesy bus doesn't operate any more, so be prepared to pay up to $18 each way in a taxi to visit the CBD where most tourist attractions are. Breakfast is very basic with a limited selection. But of main concern was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. (see attached photos) We had to move rooms as we considered the mould on the floor was a risk to our health. The baths in each room were also dangerous, with no non-slip mat in them if you were showering and for older guests very difficult to get in and out of. The room we were then given was not much better and located on the main highway north hence very noisy. While the hotel states that it has recently been upgraded, hence the 4/4.5 star rating, there were still some older appliances left behind (see attached photo) We had to stay here as the tours we had paid for as part of our package were scheduled to pick us up here. |Very disappointed. Moral to the story DO NOT rely on...
Read moreI love this place. The King room with bay window which I'm in is spotless and spacious with amazing views on floor five of mountains, city and a sliver of sea. I even loved the scrambled eggs. Room service and the Palms Restaurant make lovely food.
There seems to be a night staff and reception staff were very helpful for my self-inflicted trip dramas this visit!
The hotel has a ramp, and the room doorway seems wider than many, great for those with mobility issues.
The bathroom has an open centre though not a lot of wheelie room to get in. It will probably work for a walker. It's spotless too, with great presentation, even a drying line hidden up against the back wall.
The shower/bath is super high if the ground with a grab rail and a good non-slip base once in. Getting out was more of a trick, stepping down from so high onto tiles, a bit scary.
The laundry was right across from my room, convenient as I certainly couldn't hear it or foot traffic .
I could hear whacking great airplanes coming over but it stopped by late at night and no noise other than a low hum of "rush hour" at 7 am. I sleep lightly and yet slept well.
I'm keen to stay here again and...
