We stayed here earlier this month and I have based my 5-star rating on the facilities and customer service we received. When we arrived, the staff at the desk were unable to find my booking which I had booked on booking.com. Shockingly, the booking was made for 2026 instead of 2025 even though I checked and rechecked when I booked. Being peak season and school holidays, I was horrified at the thought of trying to find somewhere else to stay at the last minute. The staff at the desk were nothing short of spectacular. They reassured me that they would see what they could do and if they didn't have any availability at all, they could check with their sister property close by. Amazingly, they managed to find me the same room type I had booked for 3 of the 4 nights and a smaller room for the final night. I would like to give a huge thank you to the lovely Imogen and Stephanie at the front desk who made this happen. They went above and beyond and we really appreciated it. They even gave us wristbands so we could use the facilities until our room was ready, and when we checked in they gave us a bottle of bubbles and a lovely card wishing us a relaxing stay. Thank you so much ladies, you really made the stay! On the day we were moving rooms, expecting to go to a smaller room type, they even upgraded us to a three-bedroom villa by the pool area. It was more space than we needed but such a lovely gesture. Thank you Big 4 Adventure Whitsundays for making my kids mini-break amazing! ||Now onto the review of the actual property. The one-bedroom was pretty basic and small but had everything you needed in the kitchen (important with kids) and our kids loved the bunk beds. We loved that it also had an air fryer even though we didn't use it. I was surprised to see no air conditioner in the bedroom but we just left the one in the main area on with the fan running. It says there is only one car space but we got both our cars in the space tandem parked with room to spare. ||The three-bedroom was amazing, it was massive, had two full bathrooms, air con in each room, massive deck, BBQ, washing machine and dryer and enough parking for 2-3 cars. In the kitchen it even had a pod coffee machine, popcorn maker and enough crockery and cutlery for 12 people.||The park itself is kid heaven on steroids. Two jumping pillows (one was out of order), pedal karts, basketball court, table tennis, kids club, mini-golf, playground, activities every day and evening, not to mention the pool with two slides, plus the water park area with a toddler space (also with slides) and the bigger slides and tipping bucket. Our water babies loved every minute of it and spent hours on the slides and in the pool. The park also has an animal "zoo" which opens every morning for a petting and feeding experience which our daughter loved. The facilities were well maintained for such a busy park. ||We have an Autistic child and this park also has a sensory-friendly room for kids with additional needs. We didn't think we would use it, but the staff gave us a key regardless and you are welcome to use it as needed if unoccupied. At one point our child was having a meltdown near the reception area and it worked well for us to go into the room for 20 minutes. There is a timer on the door so others are aware not to enter and the room itself has some great materials inside. A crash mat with soft and fluffy pillows, a hammock, colouring, sensory and fidget items, books, etc. and beautiful and cool inside with air con and blinds down. This was a great addition for us and we were glad it was there for us to use. ||We obviously didn't need to use the camping facilities (bathrooms, camp kitchens, etc) but I always check them out and they looked well-equipped and clean. There are also washing lines in strategic areas of the park for you to hang washing out.|The park is also walking distance to the shops which has Woolies and Big W plus fast food options. There is a pub across the road which we didn't go to, but they apparently have an indoor kids play area (which would work well in wet weather).| |Tips: |Pre-book the pedal karts, golf, petting zoo thing, etc. for the times you want as it books out quickly.|If you have a family and are tossing up between a one bedroom and a two or three bedroom, I recommend going with the bigger option (as we will next time). |The pizza truck onsite one evening wasn't great but the Thai a couple of nights later was lovely. Get in early as they sell out or you'll wait a long time. ||Again thank you Imogen, Stephanie and Big 4 staff at Adventure Whitsundays. We...
Read moreWhat a great place for families! We had planned to go to Fiji this year (we went last year) but weren't able to, so headed to Airlie Beach instead and stayed at the Big4. We had heard it was great, and it did not disappoint. Don't waste your money going overseas! Other than an all-inclusive meal package which we would have had in Fiji (plus the added kgs that go along with it!) this place was so much better than anywhere we could have stayed in Fiji. We had a deluxe studio cabin which was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy. Pillows weren't great, but if you are fussy take your own. My sister had a spa cottage and it was great too. Nanna and Grandad had a powered site with their van and they were located directly opposite the playground so that was perfect! The kids (2, 3 & 4 years old) absolutely loved the jumping pillows and the playground. The pool is absolutely brilliant! The dedicated toddler play pool with small slides is fantastic, and deep enough for adults to sit in the water while supervising. There was also a lovely shallow section of the big pool that the kids and adults loved. Lots of shade around the pool and plenty of places to relax. There are clear signs about separating under 5s from the bigger kids, but parents weren't too great at monitoring that and there were often big kids on the under 5s stuff. There is a coffee van which has lovely food too - toasted cheese and ham etc. open each day from 7am to 2pm. What a lifesaver, being able to get a decent coffee! The shop at reception had plenty of supplies too, everything you could need. You could stay at this resort and not leave for anything. There were meal options most nights if you wanted to buy on site, or you could get pizza delivered and maccas I think. KFC/Maccas are right next door. The Reef Gateway Hotel over the road also does amazing pub food and there is another awesome airconditioned playground there for kids too. We arrived on a Sunday and it was fully booked, but didn't feel too busy. Plenty of room for everyone. Movie nights were a hit! Immaculate grounds, and all the workers getting around were very friendly. No rubbish anywhere. Icecream van comes daily and travels throughout the resort. The animal park was slightly disappointing for us country folks as it was mostly ducks, chooks and one sheep. We had been hoping for more variety, but it was still ok, and was free. Lots of activities for kids. Mini golf area is lovely although the water seemed a little stagnant so I imagine the mozzies like it in there. We didn't get attacked at all the entire week we were there though. Lots to hire from the shop, you won't be bored. You can get a bus into Airlie Beach - the lagoon there was lovely to swim in.
Suggestions from me for improvement: wagons available to hire would be amazing! A few smart families had them for carting gear around, from room to pool etc. and also good for tired kids. If they'd been available we would have hired one for sure! BCF and Anaconda are down the road but we didn't really want to buy one for $100 as we have them at home. Take one if you can! And for families, if you log in to Netflix or similar on your tv make sure to log out after you leave. I happily used another families profile the entire time, but they will be wondering why they now have kids movies suggested in netflix as they seemed to like horrors, haha.
Anyway, we had a fantastic holiday and would come back any time! We won't be going to Fiji again. Thank you so much...
Read moreStayed on a powered site. Great facilities and had a fabulous time, from the pool, waterslides, karts, mini golf, holiday activities right down to pizza, thai, mr wippy and much, much more will definitely return/recommend. HOWEVER, I found the quality of a few small amount of people (School holidays time) ruined the full experience at times, which is always bound to happen, in big places like this. The most discusting experience was when I had a shower. I noticed a used tampon left on the shower window sill and still being there for 3 days after, in this heat and humidity you can imagine. Then what looked like Blood on the sink bench, with a blood-soaked sponge, where I assume someone attempted to clean up their body fluids, but found it to be too hard, so left it there for others too see and smell and for the poor cleaner to deal with. The shower drain backed up while in the shower not only flooding the shower but the whole cubical at the same time as it came out both drain holes, and flooding the whole shower cubicle, nothing like dirty pipe water around your feet. As for the pool, a lot of adults were drinking in the pool/area contrary to signage, adults back flipping and bombing all the while the pool was packed which then encourage the young teen boys/girls to bomb and flip into the pool which was disruptive at times, unfortunately nobody did anything about even when an attendant was looking. I understand peak season, "is peak season" and its handwork to run and maintain a huge facility Like this with full house bookings, however, instead of one pool attendant maybe 3 or 4 could help with keeping people to conform with rules and policies you have had us all sign on condition of entry, prior to staying. A huge positive is that night times are quiet with no noise after 10 pm, even on Christmas night it was pleasant. Laundry, great facilities. However, one machine smelt like mold, so didn't use it, also there is signs up to remove clothes once cycle has finished, 1 hours was waited, as two of the four washers had washing sitting in it before, and well after I finished my washing. Maybe some signs on the lids of the washers could work, a suggestion? Waste facilities are everywhere, so there is no reason to have rubbish sitting around for bush turkeys to get into, keeps the atmosphere clean, and a place to want to be, JR RICHARDS comes every other day. The bins are emptied often, and your nose is never assaulted with the smell of rotten food. In general, most of the people around are considerate and respectful to others around the campsites. Facilities: The facilities are overall very clean and well maintained. Structurally, nothing is broken or rundown. The gardens are beautiful, the children park is great, and the grounds are mown neatly. Beside the few negative, it's a great place to bring your family in peak holiday season. Thank you for the nice...
