Unfortunately I cannot highly rate this hotel because of what happened during my stay because of one of their staff. The Indian lady at reception is extremely rude and disrespectful. They have a laundry which is operated by debit card. I asked the receptionist for laundry powder, she told me to just buy at the shops and then I could follow the instructions at the machine. I did this and when I tapped my card the machine didn’t work . She then told me to tap my card again. The machine charged me twice and didn’t work. I went back to the reception and told her that I was charged twice plus laundry detergent ($15 dollars) and that the machine doesn’t work. She then told me this was not her problem and that I could try to call the phone number attached to the machine . I was shocked . All that while I had my child with me on my arms. And had left all my clothes at the laundry . I then explained that my phone was only working for emergencies. They don’t have Wi-Fi there by the way . She said there was nothing she could do . I said “I followed your advice , I’m telling you I just spent 15 dollars and you are telling me there is nothing you can do ?” Another worker was around and she was in shock too . She even started trying to help me with distracting my child from the whole situation. The receptionist grabbed the hotel phone and threw across the counter towards me , she threw it !! saying “if you want , you can use this phone , but you go to the machine and look for the phone number yourself “ I told her how rude and unprofessional she was being . She kept saying there was nothing she could do and even said that machine gave problems before . And when I said I wanted to call the owners , she grabbed her phone called a guy that works in the kitchen and started speaking in another language I couldn’t understand. This guy came I think he is her partner. I explained all to him and he said he would try to get the machine to refund me . I was upset , I hate conflict . She gave me anxiety and yelled at me in front of my child .
The room we stayed was clean but super small , it was like a little box . The tiles are sticky and not good in the humidity weather .
Rooms could use an upgrade . It’s expensive For what you get.
When I saw was it was I regretted going to cape tribulation for 3 nights . I should have gone for a day trip from port Douglas .
The shared kitchen is disgusting .
I just want to make a note that the other staff were extremely helpful and kind . The backpacker French and Argentinian girls were lovely , and the dude that works in the bar with the messy hair is the nicest guy ! To the owners : They were the people you...
Read moreProbably the worst accommodation we have ever lived in. Came with family a few weeks ago and we were so close to just walking out and forfeiting the room that we had already paid for. A bad experience overall, with overpriced rooms with not even the bare minimum. The receptionist wasn't friendly, generally felt unwelcomed there. Rooms were locked with a literal lock 🔐, screen door was jammed and couldn't be moved and had a huge hole in it, floors and curtains were dirty, and found cobwebs on the ceiling. There was ants near the fridge. Pillows were yellow inside and very flat with no extra pillows, bed only had a bed sheet with no blanket available. We count ourselves lucky to have a bar fridge, towels for the shower, basic toiletries and toilet paper. There was no microwave, no TV, no cups, no tea/ coffee/ sugar, no kettle, no table inside, no cutlery. For $220 per night, it's not good value for money. The shared kitchen was disgusting and dirty, smelt like fish and other meat, we couldn't even bring ourselves to touch anything. They can try to call this a resort, but we've been to plenty of caravan parks that were better and cheaper than this. What's more, they say they have free parking, but what they don't say is that the free parking is at the front at the reception and that you can't park in front of your room, despite having space at the front of your room.
For tourists, you'll be better off coming here on a day trip from Cairns, either self-guided or via a tour than staying overnight. All accommodation here at Cape Tribulation and the Daintree region are overpriced. There's also a $47 ferry needed to get here to Cape Tribulation, which was a surprise to us because it was a small river and there should've been a bridge there but there wasn't.
So if you want overpriced rooms worth less than half its price, this is the place for you.
Edit: I saw some reviews about there having WiFi - there is...
Read moreHaving stayed previously, the venue had a great vibe. This time around, for unpowered camping it was $30 a person. We were told that we would receive an email confirmation, but that didn't happen. (to be told that is because we booked online - which we didn't as I rang them to make the booking) We had been allocated two sites as we were a group of two families. We managed to squeeze onto a large site, using the other site to park cars etc. and when another camper moved onto our second site, we were told my management that it was a first in best dressed arrangement. (even if though we were there for 2 nights previously). We would have been better of putting a swag there in hindsight. Yet, we still were charged the $30 per night per person. Now we were camping, and one of our travelers couldn't travel, but because we didn't let them know within 24 hours of check in, we were still slugged the $90. We could only conclude that they charge by the blade of grass that one occupies to have a policy for non-powered camping sites that would normally apply to rooms etc. Oh - and did I mention that we had to prove that we had paid them the correct amount - this would have been easily rectified if we had of had our confirmation, but no, we had to scroll through our online banking apps, and then confirm that payment on their EFTPOS machine.
Value for money if you are camping - No. You would think that as two families, outlaying over $700 for Easter unpowered camping there would have been a little more customer service to maintain repeat business. There are other camping sites nearby as good alternatives that we explored whilst there. Unpowered Camping very expensive. Camp kitchen had no water pressure. Amenities were reasonable but certainly not what would be expected at the price charged. Appreciate that tourism has been doing it tough, but we really felt ripped off after our experience with the onsite manager,...
