DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT:
We were recently at Whet restaurant and our experience was less than enjoyable to say the least. My husband ordered the 'Grilled lamb pita with mint, tomato & red onion salad, yoghurt & chips' ... this started our terrible experience. Anywhere in the world, lamb pita consists of actual lamb, either roast or slow cooked. Pita is the actual bread (I explain this in case the moron waitress reads this). When my husband saw an actual lamb pattie, he brought it to the attention of one of the British waitresses. She looked at us as if we had 3 heads. My husband pointed out that this was minced lamb, not what he expected and wouldnât eat it â with a smile she took the plate away. But wait, thereâs more ....
I ordered the âMedium rare seared tuna fillet, served on a nicoise salad of kipfler potato, soft boiled egg, cherry tomato, olive tapenade & pestoâ. I had ONE KIPFLER potato cut in half, really!
We decided not to have coffees or dessert in case things kept getting worse. When we asked for the bill we noticed that the lamb dish was being charged to us, even though my husband told them it wasnât what he had expected. The Welsh waitress tried to explain that when you order pita bread, it is obvious that you will get a lamb pattie (really?). (Clearly she knows nothing about food, specifically Greek food). My husband mentioned that not only did he receive minced lamb, it was also a tiny piece cut in 3. She proceeded to advise us that they had regulations and that the weight is 250gms. THAT WAS NOT 250gms!!! It was more like 80gms! I even told her that my potato had been cut in half and that it wasnât acceptable. Again, I was looked at me like I had 3 heads and she insisted that it was fine because âthey follow regulationsâ. When we asked why would we pay for something we didnât eat, she told us that there was nothing wrong and that they had ânever received complaints beforeâ.
BEWARE: When it comes to food, this place is just not acceptable. They obviously get overseas tourists working in this place who have no idea about food. With a massive smile on their faces they will argue with you, insist that they are correct and charge you an arm and a leg.
So ... nearly to the end of my story ... since we had to pay for something we didnât consume, I told her to make us a new order of the lamb dish to take away. Which she did.
Off we went on our not so merry way. During our next stop about 5 minutes later, we tried the minced lamb and it was DISGUSTING! It had obviously been prepared the day/s before and didnât taste very fresh at all. We had to throw away the whole dish.
Please donât bother going here unless you are ready to be treated like an idiot and pay through the roof. Perhaps they are great at making drinks, but we...

The entrance is a beautiful, romantically lit enclosed stroll in the rainforest. The restaurant itself is quite large, but during the off season there may only be a few tables occupied by patrons. Perfect for a secluded ambience. Out on the deck youâre immersed in peaceful, wild rainforest vibes. Service was 10/10. Incredibly nice and thoughtful server who goes above and beyond. My companion ordered the chicken parmigiana and had his eyes closed, sighing in ecstasy for most of the dinner. As good as it gets for him. Greek salad was perfect. Bread starter with melted cheese, garlic and herbs was so tasty. (Definitely get it with all three). My seafood pasta was amazing in every way except the noodles were cooked past al dente. The seafood was tender, succulent, fresh, cooked to perfection. The sauce was also very flavorful and there was lots of it. We cleared every single plate. Our beer and wine were great. They had many wine bottles on display. Would like to try a bottle with a group of friends here one day if Iâm ever back in Daintree. Chef was able to package dessert (chocolate moose) for takeaway and the presentation was still beautiful. We had chocolate mousse the next day and it was delicious. Everything about this restaurant...
Read moreThe only decent restaurant in all of the Daintree. Firstly, they were the only cafe open throughout the day and were reliable each time. Everywhere else either opens their cafe at 5pm, or only opens for a one hour window, or is closed on random days, or is not nice, not clean, not reliable etc (we literally drove to multiple âcafesâ for hours and all but this one disappointed us). Just come here for coffee/snacks/milkshakes, donât waste your time anywhere else. We also came here for dinner and the food was good. The staff were all friendly and nice (every time we came here, they were nice. It was consistent). They had good table service, and we even asked for a dessert that wasnât on the menu and they gave it to us no problem (ice cream and chocolate sauce, would recommend. It was great). They were accomodating, reliable, friendly, and inviting. The restaurant was also clean, in a good location, nice forest scenery, comfy couches inside, modern looking. They played nice music too which made the place extra lively. It was also filled with people at dinner time which was a relief from all the empty awkward restaurants we ate at for dinner...
