Such a disappointment , as a surprise my friend had booked the new villas at Bayview nearest the beach , at $650 a night we expected at least some sort of luxury but these rooms were bare , badly designed and no finishing touches , even having a furniture cube in the room with only a box of tissues in it and a mop and bucket leant up beside it was just awful ( we noticed a provided Kmart kettle so why not a few $2 Knick knacks ?) no mirror to view your outfits ( and come on us girls need a mirror ) the bathroom was bare and not exciting in the least , the toilet roll holder is way behind the actual toilet meaning you have to stretch backwards to get toilet roll ( surely the builders know where they should go ) the locked up shampoo , conditioner also behind the spray of water and hard to reach , the tv on the side wall has a couch facing the front of the property , so basically only one person can watch tv from the couch in a 6 bed apartment ( my friend had to pull up a dining chair ) The bedrooms were bland with no niceties All this is such a shame as we were very excited to experience these rooms and had my video camera ready to record the “ beauty “ of the room and share it online , yes the view is lovely but sadly that’s the only things going for these rooms at this price Would not recommend these rooms at this price unless the finishing touches are completed and the design flaws fixed As a general rule we love Bayview and it’s our go to in coral bay so to be disappointed like this was a bit heartbreaking On returning to our town people asked us what they were like and sadly we had to be honest , wouldn’t want others to spend that amount of money for such a lack of nice touches

I stayed at the bay lodge at $220 per night. At this price one expects a standard to match the price. Unfortunately, the price didn’t match the standard. If the owners read this, please see this as feedback rather than me just complaining. The walls are thin. I could even hear conversation from the lodge next door. I was also kept awake by the people snoring through the walls. People also use your back area as a walkway at all hours of the day making it quite noisy. When they do, they also get full view into your accommodation, so you better be dressed if you’re shy. The bed linen. I don’t know what kind of material the bed linen was made of but it sure wasn’t 100% cotton. They felt very plastic, like a polyester blend. The material was completely unbreathable and became very sticky and wet against your skin. The bed linen made that sound you get when you fold a rain tarp. I’m actually really curious of what material it may have been… Bathroom. The bathroom reminded me of some cheap accommodation in Bali. Please see pictures. If you got oodles of cash to be spent on accommodation not worth the price then this is place is for you. If you didn’t have oodles of cash but spent it anyway you will feel ripped off. Thanks

Pre booked 4 night stay, September, powered site. 2 adults. After an incorrect powered tent site allocation, we were redirected to site 130, opposite the amenities and unfortunately also the dump point. The latter made the area very busy and often a bit smelly. The drinking water is available at points around the park, fill a container for use, water on site is from the bore which seems to be mainly used for watering the grass. Amenities were partially refurbished, toilets were fine, showers were not, nozzle straight from the wall and a stainless steel trough to stand in, everywhere ends up wet, no where to put toiletries and little hanging space. Mould and peeling paint was evident on the walls. The block further away was tiled but still had poor drainage. Given the cost of sites and the volume of guests, the amenities need to be so much better. Easy access to the beaches, shops, cafe and tour shops, quiet park, with small to medium sites near 130. Staff at reception were helpful and courteous.

Expecting this place to be a highlight of our lap, and hearing it gets heavily booked, we booked almost 12 months in advance. I had heard that people are travelling with dogs often get relegated to the top paddock behind Bills Bar and the Backpackers, so requested a site in the main area closer to better facilities. They do allow dogs down there, so why, booking so early were we not put in the main park? What a nightmare this caravan park is. I think the differing in ratings depends where you are. We were put up in the top paddock with other ‘Dog people’. The facilities were DISGUSTING. The worst we’ve seen on our 8 months on the road. The shower heads are so corroded that the water sprays out like needles in all directions and they stink. Cubicles are mouldy, hairy and some have holes in the walls. They are not cleaned at all. I stared at the same used tampon wrappers for 3 days despite them being ‘cleaned’ daily. There were mice in there and lots of droppings. The camp kitchen is filthy, with mouse poo everywhere. It is the only place we have stayed where the BBQs were not used once…old dirty iron plates with an inch of mouse poo around them. There is one rusted out washing machine that does not say it is bore water…our neighbours used it and ruined their children’s clothes. It is not sign posted as bore water, yet the machines in the other section have fresh water options. We had read reviews about a mouse problem and not being too put off, we spent $100 on plastic containers before arriving and put out peppermint oil and dryer sheets to deter them coming in our new motorhome. it is impossible to block off all access holes, but we did what we could. Despite this, we had mice come in every night and poo all over the sink and stove. When we complained, they lent us some humane catch and release traps, which we set each night and managed to catch one a night for the rest of the stay. At least this stopped the mess everywhere. The ground staff, who were lovely said it is just a bad year, but no one likes baits used so they just do absolutely nothing. Whilst I am apposed to baits, you do see other CPs with contained bait stations, just letting the problem get to this level is unacceptable. Down the hill in the other section, the roads are paved so not as dusty, the facilities are better , bbq’s newer, there is a pool and as stated the washing machines have fresh water. Why are people charged the same to be up the top, with such disgusting facilities? And they charge $2 per dog just to top it off! How is this justified. Coral Bay is just beautiful, we spent a lot of money in the 3 restaurants, snorkelling equipment, food and drink fromthe Foodworks, bottle shop etc.. We really tried to make the most of it but the Caravan Park did spoil our week. Management and owners need to know just how appalling it was. The people camping with their dogs up the top were so friendly and nice but many people left early due to the showers, kitchen and...

So there are two caravan parks in Coral Bay. One appears to cater towards older folk, and the other to families with children. Bayview has a pool, kids playgrounds and a large bouncy pillow.

It's a good park all things considered. You are able to check in late, unlike the other park which shuts you out at 8. Full stop.

The sites, we checked in in a van, are large, clean, tidy, have grass and are well maintained.

There is no fresh water on your site and although each site has its own tap, they recommend you don't connect up to it as its bore water. There is a bulk fresh water fill site, and you're apparently allowed 100ltrs free. after that its apparently 10 cents a litre.

The camp kitchen is open from 0530 to 2200. it's locked at all other times. The kitchen has one single fresh water tap, 4 gas burners which you sometimes have to queue to use, a couple of gas bbqs, appliances and a large 3 door glass fridge.

The bathrooms are old, mostly dirty, have very poor water pressure, DO NOT have fresh water and heavily infested with bugs at night. They are also unlocked at all times, own basically to the public. There are signs that say they are only to be used by residents. I'm sure that'll stop people.

There are notices posted around town inviting people to clean for 2 hours a day to gain free use of a site for that day. This probably explains the poor cleaning of the toilets.

The pool area is clean and tidy, although shade is scarce. There are sun beds for tanning.

The staff on the front desk are polite and generally helpful although dont ask where other families who may be part of your booking are situated. You won't be told.

You can book tours at the desk and receive a 10% discount off most.

Checkout is easy if you're on a site. There's nothing to do, not keys to hand in. All good!

Thanks...
