When I first walked into Donnybrook Hotel and saw that the dinning area was packed I was a little disheartened as I knew that the staff would be under the pump and maybe I would have to wait a long time for a meal and the food wouldn't be up to par. From the moment I walked in with my friend, Haylee one of the staff member came straight up to us and made us feel incredibly welcome and accommodating. Haylee found us a table even though we didn't have a booking and did mention that our meal would probably be about 45 minutes because they had an extremely large crowd of people in for lunch. I wasn't very hopeful but we decided to stay and order some lunch regardless. The menu has a great range of foods to choose from, a step up from a lot of pub food. I ordered the creamy garlic prawns which to my utter delight also came with salad and chips. My friend ordered the fish burger and she was so impressed by the fish. It was freshly battered with their own batter recipe and that in itself earns a top review in my books as it means the chef has pride in his cooking and isn't taking the easy way out with prepared frozen battered fish.! I also loved the fact that chef didn't kill his dishes with too much pepper or other over the top seasonings. I want to taste the food I am eating and not be overwhelmed by too much pepper and other condiments. Less is more in my book. I am giving Donnybrook Hotel 5 stars because they made us feel very welcome, we didn't have to wait all that long for our food and the food was delicious! My compliments to the new owners including the chef for making this hotel a must stop for lunch if ever you find yourself in Donnybrook. I will definitely eat here again.

Me and my girl rode up from Esperance, heading to Perth and it started pissing down. So we pulled over and booked a room at the Donnybrook hotel. Fuuuuuuck, the manager is the biggest c...smoker we ever met, he come up with every excuse possible so we couldn't stay. Yeah, we were dirty and soaking wet, we probably didn't fit in to his social circle but who gives a f... We wanted our room we paid for but he kicked us out before we even took out helmets off.. do yourself a favour and ride straight past this hobnob exclusive good for nothing dump.

The room is comfortable and spacious. However it’s on the main road and the traffic kept me awake almost all night even with earplugs. Spent the last 6 days camping and riding the Munda Biddi, this is my first bed and shower on the trip but didn’t get much sleep due to the noise. I asked for a quiet room but still got given one with windows facing the main road. There is only one toilet and one functioning shower in the ladies shared bathroom. There is a little kitchen area with kettle fridge and microwave in the communal area.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights, and on the first night, there were huge cockroaches in our room which we saw come out beneath the skirting board gap, between the board and the floor. The manager spent about 5 mins trying to find the cockroaches (which had hidden under the TV table when we last saw them). The manager suggested to spray with bug spray, however we didn't want to sleep in that environment, so we got moved to another room close by, where the aircon remote didn't work. It was really inconvenient to be moving rooms so late at night. He also acknowledged that he would not want to be sleeping in a room with cockroaches in it. He also claimed that a pest control company had done some extermination work previously, to try to get rid of the cockroach problem that he acknowledged had been an issue in the hotel. The next day as we were making the bed, we noticed bed bugs in the sheets! I tried to find the manager upon checkout at 10 am the next morning to report this, however only 2 cleaners were available in the pub area. Hence, when I got home, I called the manager to explain this, and he said he would investigate and call back. That was 3 days ago....... still...
