Sugarloaf Motel — Hotel in Hume

The motel, itself is fine for a short to medium stay. Easy to get to and minimal (but sufficient) facilities.||||However, customer service was not up to par.||The queen bedroom we rented was depicted in the pictures with two towels, so we mistakenly booked that room assuming two people staying would be ok.||It wasn't and we were met with two random knocks on the door by the person on duty - 10:30 pm and 7:15 am.||Both visits were accusive, immediately being questioned if we had 3 people staying in the room and no apology for the interruption was offered.||||It was only upon checking out the next morning that we were told that the booking was for 1 person only and that (without any opportunity to explain ourselves) we were being charged an extra $20.||We are both pretty easy-going people and are happy to admit when we've made a mistake, however, we will not be staying here again due to the poor attitude and customer service...

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome by Mick, the manager, who truly goes above and beyond for his guests. You can tell he genuinely cares – super friendly, helpful, and always around to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hygiene standards were top-notch – fresh linen, clean bathrooms, and tidy surroundings throughout the property.

The service was excellent – quick check-in, clear communication, and the little touches made a big difference. Whether it was recommending local spots or just having a quick chat, Mick and his team made us feel right at home.

Our stay at Sugarloaf motel was entirely unexpected, as we had an incident on the freeway to Melbourne and our car was towed away. We couldn’t get a replacement car from the car rental company, so we were helpless and in a stressful situation. Luckily, we got rooms at the motel, which were clean and tidy and had comfortable beds. Mick was invaluable and kind-hearted. He extended our checkout time so that we could organise the transportation to Melbourne. We had difficulty getting an Uber/ taxi as we were six people with luggage. Mick went above & beyond to help us and dropped us off at the towing company, 30 km from the motel, without any extra cost.
