Best Western Ipswich — Hotel in Ipswich City

We checked out of this motel today and I will never return. I have stayed at many Best Western motels and we always received the best quality room and service until this one, the room was dated and felt dirty, we stayed for 5 days, we were very disappointed when we had visitors (our son, his wife and 5 month old baby), and we went to use the swimming pool and my DIL was stung twice by wasps which were in the trees right by the swimming pool, when we mentioned this to the manager they told us to leave the pool as the pool was only for guests, there were no signs to advise us that the pool was only for guests (we were the only guest in the motel for 3 days that we were there) that should have been a warning for us at peak time of the year, when all other motels around the area were booked out. The AC had mould in it, the lounge was all ripped underneath, the light fixtures were dirty, we have all come away feeling unwell. The reception area had a strong cooking smell which was overwhelming. The male manager was very unpleasant when we were checking out and didnt enquire ABT our stay, which was extremely rude. I believe the owners of this motel should be looking into who they have managing their motel and Best Western should be looking into all the negative comments. A very disappointing visit to a Best Western. It is located close enough to Ipswich where everything is a short drive away.

The rooms are appointed with the bare required essentials but they are old and not well kept. The beds and pillows were nice and comfortable and I had no issues sleeping. The room was "cleaned" and beds made daily.

Tv worked with the normal array of free to air channels.

Now the bad: The room had multiple pockets of thick dust and random hair. The aircon had mould inside it. The sofa chair had mould under the cushion. The desk lamps and desk chairs had dust and cacked white material on the base and legs. The tv had 1cm if dust behind it. The remotes looked like they hadn't been cleaned ever with visible slime which I immediately cleaned with a towel and soapy water... As a result of the above I was too scared to use supplied cutlery or food.

The front desk gentleman was nice to deal with but the lady I found was rude and blunt.

My husband originally booked in for 3 nights, but only paid for 1 as our bank was having technical problems. Nothing was definitive due to the tech problems, so hubby decided to change motels the next day as 2 of our adult children were joining him. Hubby left around 7:30ish the next morning and I spoke to him around lunchtime. I asked him if he was staying another night as the motel had charged another $209 to his card. He informed me that he had booked into a different motel and he was unaware that the previuos motel had done this. When he called the motel to ask why they charged another night, they told him that he should have given them 24hrs notice. The place was all but empty and not once was he informed that 24hrs was required so not to incur a fee.... especially the cost of a full nights stay. No offer of a credit to use at another time, which we have been offered to us in the past by other hotels/motels. An absolute rip off. They have lost...
