Denmark Hill Conservation Reserve has 5 short easy to moderate walks from 200m to 800m in length and Panoramic city and country views from the top of the water tower. It's only open between 6am and 6pm. Walk 1 - Waterfall Track 200m one way 5 mins The sealed path leads up a set of stairs to a sheltered viewing area with picnic facilities. While the waterfall no longer flows, this trail is still worth exploring. Walk 2 - Triassic Circuit 200m return 5 mins Creative displays including dinosaur footprints and a triassic themed shelter allow visitors to step back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. Kids will enjoy this circuit. Walk 3 - Quarry Circuit 400m return 10 mins A number of viewing areas over the historic quarry make great vantage points for looking back in time into the geology of the rock strata. Walk 4 - Water Tower Circuit 800m return 20 mins Shaded sealed pathways lead through native bushland to the water tower. Cimb the tower for views across the Ipswich region and four mountain ranges – the D’Aguilar, Teviot, Little Liverpool and Great Dividing Ranges. Walk 5 - Bluey’s Circuit 800m return 20 mins Passes through a dry sclerophyll forest community which is recovering from historical mining disturbances. Scrub species such as hoop pines (Araucaria cunninghamii) are beginning to emerge in the gullies. Keep your eyes open for koalas in the taller Eucalypts. This park remains sacred to the Traditional Owners of Ipswich. Sacred sites are very important to the Traditional Owners, as they provide a link between Country and personal identity and allow the passing on of cultural knowledge. Some of the sacred sites within Ipswich include quarry sites, traditional food resources, story places, pre-contact and historical camp sites, fighting grounds, ceremonial sites, bora rings and women’s business sites. We went early at 6am and completed all 5 tracks! It was an amazing start to the day! With breaks we were done by 8am.

The picnic table area is the best kept secret in Ipswich. Tucked away amidst the quiet of the surrounding bush, you have your pick of spots and it's so lovely and quiet! I had a get together with some of the girls and everyone enjoyed themselves. For families, there's playground equipment in the middle and for those who require disability access to the picnic table area, you can drive down and park from that road that runs along the conservation estate from the hospital- the name escapes me now. If you're walking, start from the top where the Water tower is, because it's a fun little excursion and there's a bush track that leads all the way down. Wear grippy shoes.

Marvellous place to go for a brisk walk about 1 kilometre from Ipswich CBD ! In the past it’s had a variety of uses including a dump and cold mine. It’s been an environmental park since 1979 and group of local residents are rehabilitating it to its pristine condition There’s reminders of the mining past with bits of railway tracks and a coal mining heap. There’s fantastic views across to mt Crosby from Chelmsford avenue side! Unfortunately at the moment there’s no access up the water tower but ground viewing still provides good access across the city

Great place to walk and explore, we took our Grandsonshere when they were younger in the hope we might see a dinosaur on our way to Turrassic Park, plenty to see and do even huge inprints of the footprints as well as walk through the skeleton of a huge prehistoric predator, information about the site everywhere. Then for a walk around the Quarry beautiful, so onwards and upwards to the water tower and the winding steps leading all the way to the top of the tower with outstanding views of Ipswich and surrounding cities, as well as historic landmarks. Special place for us all as not only a journey but the storytelling made up during our walks, such wonderful and...
